i had my first shoot with MY red yesterday and it was with sound! we shot for 3 hours and 5 times id be filming and the frame flashed red and the sound mans sound went silent and i had to restart to do anything. i was shooting 4k 16x9 using the hd? what the hell! i have a shoot on tuesday but no sound but we have a 25ft crane. im a littke worried!!!! why did this happen im on build 17 my red # 5242????? help!!!!!!:unhappy:

ehm...happens with red...get used to it.:)..maybe he should lower the input level..helped here

I don't think that is related to sound. You should call Red tech support, it doesn't sound like symptoms I have heard before but at least you should talk to your Bomb Squad rep and see if they can help you track it down. Even when people have an "Audio Codec Error" it has happened when audio is not present. Just because you were recording audio doesn't mean it was a factor.

so we shot all day today WITHOUT SOUND and had no problems!!!!

Did this ever get figured out?

I had the same thing happen to me last night. Shooting a concert and 1/4 of the way through I lost audio first and then about 3-4min later the recording froze and wouldn't let me record until I rebooted. Then went the rest of the evening without happening again.

Yeah, we've seen this a few times, but always with the same camera. We shoot 6 at a time and they all behave slightly differently.

If you have a chance to run a controlled test, you may wish to try loading Build 18 v3.6.4.

This is beta firmware but it may resolve this issue for you.
