Hi everyone,

I have been reading the DCI-Specs and they are talking about XYZ-Colorspace.

I have tried to do some research but here is my question: can I compare XYZ space to RGB space or am I doing something wrong?

Kind regards,
Martin

Extract from the DCI Specs:
The DCDM shall use the 1931 CIE system of colorimetry [CIE Publication 15:2004, Colorimetry, 3rd Edition] (x, y coordinates) to describe the color primaries X, Y, and Z as a gamut container.

More information about the CIE XYZ Tristimulus color space can be found here:

DCI's XYZ color space:

Uses X Y Z primaries.

Gamma is 2.6. CIE XYZ doesn't have gamma (or it has a gamma of 1). sRGB and Rec. 709 have their own transfer functions.

The white point is different x=0.3140 y=0.3150
D65 (used in sRGB, Rec. 709) is x=0.3127 y=0.3290
