Hey documentary fans (I'm one):

Hulu, NBC/News Corp's web video site, that streams ad supported content, now has a documentary section. There are full-length and short documentaries. Seems it's currently just for television networks and film studios, but hopefully they will open an indie documentary section sometime soon and take submissions. We'll see...

Thanks for the info on that! Great to see Hulu getting into the doc streaming- I'll be tuning in to see what they have on deck. Thanks again for passing that on.

"International

For now, Hulu is a U.S. service only.
That said, our intention is to make Hulu's growing content lineup available worldwide.
This requires clearing the rights for each show or film in each specific geography and will take time.
We're encouraged by how many content providers have already been working along these lines
so that their programs can be available over the Internet to a much larger, global audience.
The Hulu team is committed to making great programming available across the globe."

many of those docs have been on hulu all along, they just didn't have their own channel. Most of the new content seems pretty lame, but hopefully they'll add more interesting stuff.

Hulu has actually just hired someone to expand their service to Europe and Asia. http://www.c21media.net/news/detail.asp?area=89&article=48427

Hulu has poached Johannes Larcher from search engine company Overture as its senior VP of international, charged with leading the video portal's expansion efforts outside the US.

Hulu also gained 10 million users last month and is now the 4th most popular video site behind youtube, myspace and yahoo. http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/03/23/hulu-gains-10-million-viewers-in-february-now-no-4-video-site-in-us/

Sanjin,
I have yet to try it but you can get onto an open proxy server in the US and watch Hulu content. I wouldn't do any online banking with the open server but I think it will work to give you a US IP address that can be used to stream video content. Just a thought if you wanted to check it out.

Jason,

thanks for your advice.

In this moment I would not "experiment" with open proxy servers...

Hulu is ran by aliens that want suck out our brains! At least that's what Alec Baldwin (and the hottie from Dollhouse) says.
