View Full Version : Anyone know where I can find a "1394b FireWire Isolator cable?

I originally posted this in accessories, but got no response, so am hoping this gets seen by those in the know here...
I REALLY don't want to fry the fire wire port on my Red-Drive, and want to pick up one of these asasp, but the original vendor (firewire depot) apparently has gone out of business...
Any advice?

for my info ...
i see i have cables with & without isolators ..
they all work ...i can't tell/see any difference ...
so what's the scope on the isolator thing ?

The isolator cuts out the power electrical feed across Firewire. If a device does not need to accept this power than there can be the danger of sending too much power in and causing components in the unit to burn out.
