Re-collimate -- tools?

We know we all are waiting for the RED solution on changing mounts. I will be one of the RED shooters between PL glass & Nikon glass. However, maybe to learn something about to re-collimate may have some interest. I'd like hear you on subject, especially our cinematographer fellows.

Any suggestion?

How does it work? Is it necessary to go to a technician or anyone of us can handle the task (of course, after some period of learning :)) ?

How hard is it? How much is it cost? Where can we get the tools for the job?

Hi Emmanuel,

Autocollomators are usually fairly expensive (cheap ones do sometimes get made).
A camera technician would probably charge under $100 or whatever their minimum charge is. If you are renting PL lenses, the rental house will probably do it for free.
You could be trained, it's a bit 'fiddly', only worth it IMHO if your a long way from a camera technician, which you possibly are!
