Red 18-50 mm and focus ring rigidity

Hi !

I'm about to buy a second hand 18-50mm Red lens,
we tested it, everything seems to be fine, but we noticed a subtle hardness when pulling focus near the end of the focus ring.

The seler told us that was a known and usual problem of this Red lens.
Any idea ?
Maybe because the lens is quite recent or unused ? :(

I have one of the early 18-50mm lenses (bought with Red #351) and while it isn't Zeiss or Cooke smooth, there is no tightness in either the focus or aperture rings. There is an ever so slight "grittiness" that is only noticeable in comparison to lenses costing ten times as much.

Thanks for your advices, i agree with you, i just had to check has a friend of mine noticed that...

We just bought it, now waiting for the rest of the gears we bought to test it on our own red !
