If among the electronic scribe lines in the RED vf was a center ed HD size window (1920 by 1080 pixels) then using the little window to compose. and using a cine zoom lens
I could shoot my long tele shots. and using the full raster of the 16/9 vf scribe lines compose my wide shots. This would have the effect of making my limited cine. 35mm zoom seem to have the range we are all used to on HD camera zoom lenses. Also since the lens would actually be wider than the tele part and using a target the size of a 1080 by 1920 pixel area I would have the greater dof more similiar to a smaller 2/3" type chip.
This would be a great aid to doc/eng/efp type work without the expense of adapting an HD lens to the camera. using the two sets of lines would be like going to the doubler in HD. but without the degradation of lens quality.

maybe there is a tech reason this wouldn't work? Seems like a better solution than spending 3K plus to adapt HD lenses.
