I think Jim is many many people's Hero, and at the same time many people's Nightmare.

I know some people who have reservations had a hard time because they were counting on this to be on the market by now, but I'd hardly call it a "nightmare".
Yeah It is hard not to have a man-crush on Jim.

I think he's referring to the competition both in the camera industry and the film industry. Red takes the Ustr out of Industry. (think about that one for a minute.. then cringe)

I remember talk about a "the making of" film, about the red team. I also remember someone asking Graeme how redcode worked and he said something like 'the pixels turn into pixies, and they dont eat, and get real thin, so we fit them into a reddrive'
in keeping with that, the 'making-of' film should feature Jim traveling back in time to give himself a camera from the future and a sock full of mysterium sensors (which in 2055, are the new martian currency). Jim has just enough time to tell himself how the thing works before the worm-hole closes.

Who's losing at this point - reservation holders or competitors?

That's it.. RED is just a front for Jim's real task at hand. And that task is building a time machine, one he knows that he builds. After all, he's visited himself in our present day to deliver the camera (and presumably other goodies).
There really is no engineering delay.... Future Jannard had to find a new plutonium supplier, but that's proving difficult. With the great Martian land-grab and mining rush of 2036 underway, all the nuclear rocket companies are buying up all the plutonium.
Once a new plutonium supply is secured, Future Jannard can take all those re-branded Panasonics (overstock cameras he bought for $60 each off of eBay in 2024) and start shuttling them back to our time. It's a good thing we're such investigative ninjas around here or we'd have never figured it out. :shiftyph34r:

AppliedVisual! Sounds like a great pilot for the sci-fi channel. I'll talk to my people, you talk to your people, and we'll shoot it on our Reds. Whatya say?:greedy:

You are on the money acehole, as a 3 cameras reservation holder I definately do not think of Jim as a nightmare for me or any of as here at Reduser, but I fermely believe it is indeed a Nightmare for the competition.. ho wayte whath competition.

I may have just reserved one camera but I only think of Jim as a nightmare for the competition (and I get my kicks from that alone - does that make me mean?)
When RED comes out and I get my own it will be a dream come true and will further help me realize my first 100% independent production. So any delays will only help to better plan ahead.
Thanks for doing this for us Jim, no matter how long it takes we are with you.
And if in the end when the camera comes out I find out I can't have it I don't want a refund, you guys earned a lot more than that :)

I'm sure there's some product designers and other management types out there stressing over RED. Their jobs could be on the line.... I know I wouldn't be sleeping all that great if I had just saddled myself up with a note carrying a couple new Vipers or an F23, only to go to NAB and see RED. Ouch, that would sting.

What's cracking me up is, it's 2 am out on the US west coast, and right now we've got logged in on the board, 130 users and just under 400 guests -- presumably either whom have left their machines logged in, or much more likely, are waiting now that it's two whole hours (sarcasm alert) west coast time into June 15th, for Jim to say something about shipping schedules. At two in the morning.
Silly rabbits. Go to bed. Jim will speak. Eventually.
Goodnight everyone,

Thats fine and all, but do we HAVE to make this into a religion?

lol, whoa... Eirik, we call them "jokes" in the United States. ;) I'm not religious, and I personally care a lot more about the RED than any world religion. At least the RED will make a difference in my life.

JJ,
No matter what comes out tomorrow, you are still my hero (among many). Red team, you are also my heroes. If you need help moving, being bailed out of jail, shoulder to cry on, I am your man.
I have not been so excited for any single thing in forever. The promise of this new camera is jaw-dropping.
I can wait forever (6 months).
Love,
Clayton Harper

Frankly, all this hero worshipping is getting a bit too much for me. Yes RED is delivering a great product but WE are the ones who are going to make RED great. Shall we start concentrating on RED technology instead of the man behind it?
I AM NOT ANTI-RED!!!!! AND I OWN A LOT OF OAKLEY SUNGLASSES TOO!!!
PS. I have posted the same message elsewhere in the forum.

quite right Rameshjai.. the script's the thing..
I watched David Lynch's new movie yesterday and my god was it shot like shit.. However, it was also some the best cinematography I've seen in ages, it was really interesting stuff, and I don't know maybe you could even justify the totally out of focus mtu's: like the footage seemed more real, more home movie? Whereas Superman Returns is too perfect..? And the light levels were peaking all over the place, it was terrible... but hell sometimes it was really beautiful and creative and the script was very "challenging". I don't know, is David Lynch interested in film-making as a form? Or is there some oblique meaning to his work? Anyway, shit.. like so many new movies.. LA does NOT look like a nice place to live....

I dunno... My worship status of Jim will depend on what we hear today. But with some good news, sure... I'll do some heavy worshipping!
:)

Sorry, if I got too self-righteous on that post. I work really really really really hard at writing and it's just finally paying off just a little.
I am really happy for you.
And no, I am not being sarcastic. I have sort of reached the same stage in my life as you have in yours.

This thread is getting very wierd.
I am sure Jim feels like he is climbing
Mt. Everest and it's too late to turn back.

There are no moderators on RED User right now. You can see who is on the board on the entry page. My guess is that they will do some cleaning up of this thread when they get on the board. IMO some of these posts are over the line...
EDIT: I see some posters have already removed some of their posts and comments. A good choice IMO. This is a professional motion media board with a lot of professional visitors who are interested in RED. Joking and fun are very cool up to the point where it becomes offensive to members and visitors. Poking fun at religions and rude comments about body parts are over the line IMO.

Waiting for the Jannard's kick off announcement for the new RED shipping schedule probably in the next 30-60 minutes.
It is about 11.10 AM local time at the RED headquarters.

Take caution in your tone, RED USERS. I'm a fair man, but this f*cking heat is making me absolutely crazy.
