It might be nice to create a Frappr group map for us RED users.
You could instantly find out if there's another REDhead in your city and (when the time comes) if they're willing to rent out gear, what their specialty is, etc.
Just a thought...
In the mean time, any Philly boys here?

Frappr is pretty cool. I belong to a wine podcast that has one. It is nice but might have more uses for a group like this. Like when you suddenly need an extra camera or lens etc.

If somebody puts up a Frappr map, I'll pop my pin in it. If it becomes popular, hell, I just might sticky it.

Or an extra camera and a bottle of wine. (RED wine, that is.)

Anybody feel free to take the lead and make it happen. I've only seen Frappr once, so I'm sure there are a few dozen people on here who could do it better than I.

OK, I'm there... Not too impressed with their interface or the pointlessly small map views and whatnot. But I guess it's worth a try.

Yeah, it'd be nice if the map was a lot bigger.

Yeah, I know. Could we do some kind of mashup on Google Maps or Earth? I'm kinda fuzzy on that.
Heh, that way we could see each other's homes (YIKES)!

You did the Bellevue dot?
No. I once lived in Bellevue....eeerr, Redmond actually. The dot I thought I did was for Gold Canyon, Arizona, which is where I live now. I'd better go back and check my dot. :)

Sounds good, but I still have to figure out what I'm doing. :) It would be nice to run two cameras or at least have somebody to call if, heaven forbid, a camera goes down in the field.
I'm in Gold Canyon until this Fall and then my wife and I are downsizing our lives so that I can put more resources back into filmmaking. We'll actually be living out in the Queen Creek area.
It'll be interesting to see how many people in AZ will have a camera.
Best,
Jason

Man, staring at the maps dissolving in and out makes me remember the Dark Ages before the Internet. Isn't it jaw-dropping amazing, in some respects, how much closer the world has become within the past 15 years? Okay, old-fart teary-eyed segue over!

Hello all,
This is my first post on the boards. I was searching the posts looking for folks in the Philly area and came across this thread. I see there hasn't been any activity on this subject in months but I think it's important for owners/enthusiasts to be able to network, collaborate, and spread the word.
So I created a Google Map. Unfortunately while it's publically-viewable it's not publically-editable. So I am volunteering my time to keep it up to date.
You can view it here:
RED Google Map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=111691315817965530571.0004384afb5c24e68e0d4&om=1&ll=42.358544,-84.111328&spn=47.591766,116.894531&z=4)
Perhaps we can make a short url for this, something like www.reduser.net/map that simply redirects to the google url.
I'll be migrating pins from the Frappr map as much as I can. If you would like to be included on the Google Map just send me a message. All we really need is your zipcode or city/state/country. I don't think we need to go down to the street-level.
Regards,
Zach Nelson

Zach,
I like the idea, but I think a map like this already exists somewhere...
Anyway, why not be on more then one map? Please include us on yours when you get a moment. Our address and contact info is on our website (below). We have a studio in NY City as well. We'll post that info on the web soon.
Cheers,
G
