I just installed Build 18 and started a Black Shading - it went as far as giving me a calibrating message before displaying " Rocketio Fault".

"Calibration Error - Not sure what you should do"

Anybody have any ideas what I should do?

Maybe what we usually do.
Switch off
wait
switch on
Installed build 18 again
start Black shading again
Maybe this time it works

Thanks gdv,

I did a couple of cycles with the same result and now I've just reinstalled Build 17 and that is working fine.

I'll try it again tomorrow.

Rocketio has often something to do with the media. For me it was as simple as removing the CF card and re-inserting it. Never hurts to have a freshly formatted card/drive.

Did you reformat the media before attempting to black shade? Maybe it just forgot to warn you.

Did black shading on two cameras with build 18 v3.6.4 yesterday with no issues.

In fact, maybe it's just my perception but the black shading this time around seemed to give an even more random noise pattern than build 17, meaning that it's doing a better job of making noise look like film grain as opposed to fixed pattern noise.

Black Shading working fine. I changed the media and it worked.

Thanks

This happens when you have a CF card inserted but not formatted for the current settings.

When doing a black shading, it appears the camera only checks for presence of media, and then proceeds. However, if the media is not correctly formatted, then it can't record what it needs to to complete a black shading. That's when it gives you that error.

Just reformat the card and do the black shading again. That should resolve the issue.

Also, I've noticed it possibly resets the camera to 23.98 when this happens - which caused us some headaches a couple days ago...

Thanks for explaining that, Brins or Sawyer.

Did the camera actually say "not sure what to do"? Thats a very honest error mesage

Yes, that is what it said.

I got that message recently on a black shading. I then realized that the cf card was almost full. I assume that the camera needs to write to the card when doing a black shading so a quick reformat and all was good.

Yeah, I almost fell out of my chair laughing when it said 'not quite sure what you should do'. But it's a pretty easy fix as already mentioned.
