"Some of the most magical shots are taken at the end of the day or long after the sun has set. You won't miss any of them, thanks to the HR10's bright built-in Ultra Video Light. The light lets you shoot subjects in color in low light up to 4.9 feet away. So, whether it's a shot of a sleeping baby, or a dramatic skyline at night, the HR10 captures all the moments you want to record."

"The HR10 uses an RGB Primary Color Filter with Bayer Placement Pattern that separates light into red, green and blue color components. This results in vibrant images with deep, rich, accurate color and natural-looking tones similar to what you'd obtain from 3CCD camcorders. In addition, the Bayer Placement Pattern delivers sharp high definition images with true-to-life color reproduction. As an added benefit, the CMOS sensor provides outstanding image capture in low light conditions."

The future RED mini should also be a sort of "palm(cam)corder".

And surely this baby has the same great motion pattern that the HV20 featured:

And too bad they limit the AVCHD codec to 12mbps. The standard allows up to 40 mbps I think.

I have a Canon GL1. It is SD. I am waiting for something better than the HR10, to upgrade to. If you are planning on editing what you record, you don't want to buy a camera that records to DVD. Tape is better, but even that is not a good option. A hard drive is the best option. I am waiting for a true 1080p (no pixel shifting) camera that fits in my pocket and doesn't drain my life savings.

Is this the infamous rolling shutter effect?
RED and the SI-2K all use a rolling shutter. This is not limited to the low end stuff.

I think the hv20 trumps the hr10.

I'm gonna get one of these.

BTW, a camera like this is ideal for behind-the-scenes docs on Red features, because you have full 1080p quality for the eventual Blu-Ray/HD-DVD.

24 mps.

By the way, can anybody tell me if this is recorded in a pulldown to 60i, or a true 24hz stream 24p, since AVCHD allows for this.

Further more, will you be able to edit this footage in Ulead, or Pinnacle? They support AVCHD but I think it's only 1080i60.

oh, that's right, 24 mbps for the whole mpeg-ts, not 40 mbps.

I thought I recognized the road in that clip, near a place called Henley in the UK (famous for the rowing).

So I slowed the clip down and you can make out on the signs the text to Cockpole Green, Crazies Hill, Warren Row and Knowl Hill and low and behold it is the same road. The motion pattern is a bit quirky but the detailing isn't too bad :)
