Updates?

Even if this was something that you could RENT for a month for projects or whatever, it would be great. I guess you might need to rent a graphics card, too. :sifone:

and something that can actually play 4k

Tom Lowe

Well an i7 machine should be able to play compressed 4K, right, assuming you had a graphics card that could do it, in terms of spatial resolution?

not sure about 4K...think it is only 2K half

Red, get on with it and make Red Ray include amongst it long list of features the ability to function as a killer gaming console.

BTW, I suspect that it is not by chance that the Red mote looks like a controller. ROFL!!!

Mark is this aimed at the big-buck production crowd, or kind of aimed at prosumers as well?

I suspect Sony will F it up and make it $30K or something - but remember - all the new tech like this starts high. Look at LCD production panels, etc.

And just where did Sony get 4K footage from? :head_explode:

Clearly, it was from some sort jerry-rigged array involving 4 F35's.

Mark what was the Screen size?

GlennChan

I believe Sony and Astro were showing 4K screens last year (ditto for NHK as part of their ultra highdef).

You could also buy 4k (as in quad HD) computer monitors off ebay. Those were like $4k or something like that.

Uh... you mean like the old Sony Luma displays?

(They were a joke. The new ones are much, much better.)

I've heard rumours of this new format. It somehow involves silver and toxic chemicals. Sounds expensive and dangerous.:sifone:

that was hilarious!

My guess is that they are thinking about multi-cam workflows or they gave up and started supporting Red's expansion.

In the DVS booth they have a 4K ($30,000) monitor playing back full rez R3D files in real time. Looks great. Four SDI links coming from the clipster hardware to the monitor. The clipster seems like a nice product. Monitor is made by someone like eyeview or something.

I was in the NAB content Theater to view the 4K Sony Tuesday...
Unbelievable images from both film & CG...Alaskan Polar bears, Baby in the Womb-Birthing/Images from the moon....WOW...Simply stunning..
Anyone at the NAB can get a Free Ticket to the content Theater and view the Sony 4K.

The Epic is going to look great on the Sony 4K!!!
