At NAB today Panasonic announced a twin-lens P2 camera for recording 3D and a 3D HD plasma screen for playback. Seems like an interesting direction to be going. Thoughts?

Will they do it or just say it?
what if I told you it was already in the camera, all you had to do was connect a usb cable between 2 cameras with build 17/18 or above?
Cameras record at the same time with the same shutter.

Hmm, after thinking a bit about this type of 3D camera, I am beginning to wonder how good it would be to record on a camera with a fixed distance between the lenses. Seems as if that would cause problems with distant subjects.

I highly doubt this is a working camera. If it is then it is a SD 3D camera.......what good is that? They are placing L&R image on a HD camera then each eye is half of whatever resolution that camera is recording.....
I sure they heard that sony is working on a purpose built 3D camera and they scrambled to look like they are too.
No doubt, there are behind the scenes working on something along with many other camera manufactures. Not sure it will end up looking like that though.
Very exciting news to see companies interested in 3D. I hope they get it right and produce a great affordable 3D camera.
