Good Day,

I posted this on the workflow page but I don't know if many people go there, and I really need assistance with this glitch.

I am cutting a video shot on Red. I imported the footage through FCP Log and Transfer, as ProRes HQ 422, and it all seems fine, until I start editing on a timeline. When I place footage on the timeline, it seems fine, it plays okay, but then it suddenly becomes green and pink and crazy looking and filled with lines.

I saw another post on this matter, and apparently others have had this problem. Someone's solution in the other post was to dump render files, another was to open another sequence and come back - all these work, but then the problem returns moments later.

It's possible that this is related to using a filter, or doing a motion effect, because it might be that it happens at some point, if not immediately, after I do one of those.

I can really use some advice on this one, as I would love to finally have a positive experience with this camera.

Any ideas?

I'm getting the same issue on a quad mac at a place I freelance at. Could this be due to graphics card?

I don't know if I resolved it yet. It's POSSIBLE that the frame size of 2048 by whatever it was, eleven hundred something, is a size someone told me that the ProRes compression doesn't work well with.

I re-imported a shot through Red Rushes and resized it to 1920/1080 and it seems that it may work, but I am not sure yet until a few more shots come in, and it takes forever.

If this DOES end up being a solution, it begs the question - why in the world, would a plug in that imports Red Footage (log and transfer in FCP) bring the footage in at a size that doesn't work with the codec - and why is there such a size to begin with? Why do I have to spend probably an entire extra day re-importing footage that already seems to have imported fine into the computer, seemed to have played fine and starts glitching when it goes on a timeline? Does this seem normal?

I'd try contacting Red directly for a quick answer if it's urgent, then please post back here for everyone's benefit.

Right now I am importing everything again through Red Rushes and resizing everything to 1920/1080, a process that's taking so far 24 hours for a music video with not that much footage, and it's about 2/3rds done. This way the footage works and I can cut it. Seems insane to me. The show was shot 16:9, and I have a feeling the 2:1 workflow is much less glitchy. Is that the experience others have had?
