We've created some RED based camera reports. They are interactive
pdf's which should make it easier to keep a good shot log. They can
be saved and delivered to the post house for dailies or used as reference for
editorial.

Feedback welcome.

I'm not sure if its something with my personal machine or the preview app on OS X but your sheet does some funky stuff when you try to fill it out. Seems to work fine in Acrobat Pro CS4 though, much thanks!

Looks great! I like the interaction part. Some quick comments:

The global section includes a "Project Frame Rate" which is great, but should there be a consideration to indicate the shooting rate of the file on disk on a per file basis? I see the menu, but with the funky characters (see below) I don't know what the four choices are - should this not be a text entry field?

In addition to MOS, can there be an indication as to how many audio tracks were used? I could also see a use for a flag to indicate that these are reference tracks when double system is used.

I get funky characters in the drop down menus - perhaps it is my system only. Using Preview on Mac OSX 10.5.6.

Would lens and filter information be more useful on a per take basis?

Can the PDF be exported in some sort of file to be merged into a codebook type database or merged into the NLE?

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the feedback. Preview does not interpret interactive pdf's correctl, then again, it's only for preview! Use Adobe Reader for full functionality and it should be perfect.

Lens and Filter info can be put into the notes category. I thought it might be nice to have a master one, since many shots on 1 cam roll use the same lens/filter combo. But if I get enough feedback I may remove that.

The hope is that you can do a 'save as' and name each new pdf with the camera roll for submission.

Adobe reader is free so give it a try.

Regards

I emailed about the lens info as well. Would love to see it mirror your film reports. Never know when a lens change will happen on the same roll...

Especially in TV world...

Our "PAL" based friends would most likely like to have 25, 50, etc, in the frate pulldown menus...

How about a frame for timecode or is that not as important now that it is file based?:)

I am new to the forum,
Does anyone have an excel version of this camera report?

I think there is a way to use this camera report on an iphone if I could get an excel version of it. I'm not sure who created the one on Gregor Hageys web page. If I can get an excel version and it works I'll let everyone in on the easy details.

I've asked Mr. Hagey if he has one he could provide.

Thanks
