What is the warranty on the RED. I could not find any info?

Sold as-is. If it's broken when it arrives, tough. If it breaks while using it, hopefully you're insured.

haha, j/k. I'm sure they will have some more information on that, I would think.

It's funny but up until you raised it Red Guy, warranty hadn't ever crossed my mind. I guess I just subconsciously assumed that Jim Jannard would do a better than industry standard job of supporting his passion project after it went out the door.

But maybe he has a devious plan to hook us all on Red cameras and then hose us all with service and repair that cost an arm and a leg!

Oh you evil, evil genius Jim.

pretty sure SONY 900 & Varicam are 1 year parts and labor - that's what I'd expect.

Pana now has 5 year warranties on some cameras.
Limited I an sure but something to think about.

The last time I looked, Panavision only rents cameras so who needs a warranty?!

They would ship you a replacement next day if things went bad on a rental.

I am sorry I meant Panasonic.
The new cameras have a 5 year
warranty. The CCD and LCD are still
one year. Without tape drives if something
went south it would be a board swap.
Damage would be a different story.

I think he means Panasonic, Greg, but I made that mistake at first too!...

EDIT: Ah - you beat me to it!!

my guess too. maybe a limitation on some parts, either mount or LCD/EVF, things in heavy use, exposed to light etc. Its common that there are exceptions. Especially the mount, nobody knows what you do to it and at what stage you might complain...

I would expect a "one year limited warranty" whatever that means...

Perhaps a related thought... if we have renters insurance (versus the warranty) and one of the prime lenses in the set gets broken/misaligned etc, will it be possible to just replace that one lens?

Hi,

Hopefully the lens can be fixed, unless it gets crushed!
