We did a successful test on a parallel rig with two Reds using the Aja Gen 10 tri-level sync generator (http://www.markertek.com/Video-Equipment/Video-Processors/Blackburst-Sync-Generators/AJA-Video/AJA-GEN10/) with the two cameras being locked together. I've heard some people mention you need one generator per camera. Can someone chime in on why you'd need that. The Aja box had multiple outputs so we didn't need to Tee off of a single output.
Also I know there are other generators out there that some of you use such as the Ambient lockit box (http://www.ambientaudio.com/products/timecode.html). Are there any differences/benefits to using the Ambient vs. Aja besides the TC generator built into the Ambient box? There's a $500 price diff. between the two.
Thanks for your help!

The single AJA box should work just fine. That's we we used on our initial 3D tests for our Red Parallel rig. But, one thing that is good to note is that the any sync generator will genlock the cameras recording pathways, but not the HDSDI out so you'll need another frame sync solution to monitor real time 3D.
