Mistika user base is very very small, probably only a handful of users in the whole world. I suggest you contact SGO directly. But .R3D is not going to be anything special anymore, every app in the world with soon fully support .R3D.

I just saw a demo yesterday, and yes it does support the files. Not only that, it's a pretty incredible system. It apparently does some sort of background rendering and can do an amazing amount of processes realtime. Definitely worth looking into.

Indeed many things now claim to support RED files. I think what's special about Mistika is that it can use RED files natively without any importing or cross-conversion. It can grade them with primaries and secondaries, and rescale them to an uncompressed resolution up to 2K in real time, in a single process without any rendering. Of course it can continue to work at 4K and beyond, but not without a little rendering (at the moment) unless you're working with a 2K or less proxy.

This makes the system extremely fast and powerful. Autoconform from RED files takes a few seconds, then the artist is playing and grading in real time right away with uncompressed images. All the RED file parameters are also continuously accessible.

Mistika allowed us to encourage a number of our clients to use RED, because they had previously been put off by reports or experiences of difficult and slow post production routes.

Mistika has a very high market share in Spain (it is from a Madrid based company). The user base outside Spain is growing steadily.

In the case of RED files, it's not doing background rendering as such. It's debayering on-the-fly and delivering the resulting images directly into the system for immediate use. You are right to highlight it for people to consider. It's from a smaller company so there isn't a huge marketing blitz. The word is spread by enthusiastic users like me! It will be at IBC on the SGO stand. I heard that there is some involvement with RED and HP on the stand too.
