View Full Version : Wild life: Increased Cougar Activity?

Is it just me, or are there more Cougars out there prowling around these days, becoming increasingly bolder? Maybe I'm just getting older and falling into their prey demographics, but it seems like Cougar activity at gyms, bars, work, parties, etc, has increased DRAMATICALLY in the last two years or so. :yikes:
And they are more rapacious than ever! :couch:
Anyone else notice this trend?

Best thing is to be aware of the danger and take appropriate steps to protect yourself.

Yes... Those cougars seem a little voracious around here lately as well. I do think age has a lot to do with it. Much to my wife's dismay, I find cougars to be pretty easy to attract if I do simple things like put on a clean shirt and talk in complete sentences. Although, they're nowhere near as ravenous as the MILFs and lonely housewives I would encounter at the gym when in my late teens to early 20's.
I've found the best way to attract women in the 18 to 24 age bracket is to be alone at the park, store, etc.. with a 2 year old daughter. Now that my daughter is 6, it doesn't work as well. ...Or maybe it's because I've traded in my biceps for the beginnings of a beer gut (also to my wife's dismay) over the past year or two.

That's because you bring your Red at the bar... Maybe even put it in your pocket? And I bet you put the 300 on? My right? :wink5:

Silly me, I actually thought this was gonna be a 'heads-up' thread for wildlife photographers.
I'm willing to bet my third leg that the rise in Cougar activity is directly linked to the ratings of Desperate Housewives.

Now these are funny.

Yep. Me too. I happened to dose in front of a cougar documentary last night on top of all. I was in total 'cougar mode' when I clicked on this thread... Boy, was I in for a surprise... Especially since I discovered the expression recently, so it also took me a couple on posts to get the joke... :)

No cougars in Australia, so I haven't noticed the trend :) From what you described, it appears like a typical behaviour associated with the reduction of their natural habitat or/and regular food source. They are probably hungry and looking for food outside of their preferred areas. If I was out of work and homeless, I'd be looking to snap whatever I could too. Besides, albeit not the best eating, with 8 billion of humans around, they are not in an immediate risk of extinction, so I am not surprised with courgar's choice of menu. :yikes:

And the downside would be?............................
EDIT: OK, actually I am married. My Wife is 10 years older than me so I guess you could say that I "survived a cougar attack!" :)

I always bring my rifle when I'm in cougar territory. Seems to work at keeping both kinds away.

Since they banned hound hunting in Orygun, the kitty population has increased so much that they have allowed "2" cougar kills on your tab each year, Not to mention the one they had to take out of Lithia Park in Ashland cause it was to close to the kiddy swings in the park. Shakespear might have liked it though. lol

ok I'm gonna stand up, be a man and admit:
I have no idea what you people are talking about... I mean, are you talking about big cats, or women at a bar?
Help me out here.

:D
I think the thread was initially about Tom's encounters with ravenous Cougars running rampant at his local gym, grocery store, book store...which, one would hope, was an allusion to being 'hit on' by older women. I mean look at the guy's avatar. Check out them gunz. :)

I had a friend stalked just 2 months ago out by his hot tub while walking home.
Definitely seems to be a dramatic increase. :D

What's disturbing to me at this point, is that having been overweight for too long now, I find myself hunting for cougars, indulging their voracity. Wait 'til I get back in shape; I'll get back to being all full 'o myself and putting on airs of superiority again...lol

Ha, ha, ha, ha, I mean, yes, check out the guns but don't forget the facial hairdo, he looks like a young Abe Lincoln who accidentally discovered a natural precursor of today's steroids and took a liking to lifting cannon balls whenever he found one :-)
