It's... a piece of wood. I can't get over that.
Has anybody ever used this?! This seems wacky (I still can't get over it being a piece of wood).
Because I haven't used this product, I can't figure out if it's brilliant or the opposite of that.

It's actually more than a piece of wood:

It reminds me of PlankCam which was used in Blood Simple for the shot outside the house going up to the front door.

Not to mention affordable.
Wonder if I can get it in a glossy sunburst finish?

I don't think this product is so crazy after all. Though if you're walking/running with it, it doesn't look like it stabilizes the up/down movements.

Sorry I'm not a pro at photoshop, but this looks like it'd be a useful camera accessory!

I actually made on of those about 8 years ago for my palmcorder, thinking it was such an amazing solution. It wasn't. I didn't even use it once.
I propose a contest to see who can find the stupidest piece of "easy solution" equipment out there...
For example... the TurtleX system... MSRP? $1385...

Exactly what I was going to say! DIY mentality put to inventive use.

Turtle X is very lame.
And the plank one doesn't look like it isolates your arm movements that well.
I'm particularly fond of shoulder mounts, specially the ones with counter-weight, like this one:
