Illiya Freedman has gone and made a prototype PL mount for the as yet unreleased but imminently available Panasonic GH1...

I can see this being a really attractive C,D or crash cam to a Red One/Epic/Scarlet. It's 1080P/24 720P/60 and $1500 price tag are just right.
I don't know how much the PL adapter will run but I want it!
This is the first real hybrid SLR/Video cam with manual ISO/shutter/aperture to hit the market and with 17Mb AVC-HD it's obviously not competing with any Red product for ultimate image quality. There is a tiny amount of skew but better than the Nikon or Canon and the files look damn good on a 1080P projector!

Straight from camera Qts at bottom right.

This is another great announcement. The only thing controversial with Evin's statement would be to use it as a crash cam with an ultra prime lens.
I believe there are many individuals waiting for something like this camera as well as the beloved Scarlet. The whole Red One program is starting to lose it for me because of the cost of the peripherals to do the job professionally.

The PL mount is apparently $1,000. So, $2,200 for a 1080P crashcam may or may not be all its cracked up to be. For a little more you could get an all-in-one fixed zoom Scarlet. However, you're right, the availability of the GH1 compared to the Scarlet makes a BIG difference.

$2,200 for a 1080P crashcam + $5,000 for some cine prime lens :sifone:

Wow isn't funny that the lens cost more.

You just use the fairly good stock lens for the crash cam, or get a cheap Nikon adapter and put a $250 MF Nikon prime on. The PL mount is more interesting for mounts on motorcycles and other hard to reach places.
