I always thought that is the correct price-range for a basic Beamsplitter-rig.
But I would love to know more how you aline the 2 cameras/lenses correctley, I can't see easy screws to do that.

Do you ship to Europe?
Thanks

I just ordered the side by side rig and will be testing it on a shoot this weekend. I will give my honest opinion about the rig at that time and hopefully that will help any others looking to get into 3D stereoscopic shooting.

Hey Jeff! I met you in LA at the ZGC's stereoscopic workshop with Florian... How goes it?

So how do you like the 3D Filmfactory's side by side rig? I'm thinking of getting one myself.

The 3D Film Factory (www.3DFilmFactory.com) is now manufacturing affordable, accurate beamplitter rigs for the Red One and Scarlet cameras. Our Red mirror rigs weigh about 40 lbs, with adjustments for inter-axial distances from 0" to 6" and convergence adjustments up to 5 degrees. The 3D Red rig is manufactured using a nearly indestructable, anodized aluminum frame and can completely collapsable for travel. To find out more visit our site at www.3DFilmFactory.com or email us at info@3DFilmFactory.com

For about $3,000 for the Beamsplitter, that's amazing!

For about $3,000 for the Beamsplitter, that's amazing!

It says "call for pricing" for RED and other "heavier" systems.

For about $3,000 for the Beamsplitter, that's amazing!

Its interesting that you could easily spend 'far' more than $3k on a just the glass for a good 50/50 beamsplitter at the size needed for both wide and long lenses.

Still it's good that there is a low cost option out there!

I didn't say our beamsplitter for the Red cameras was $3,000 and neither does our website. Our smaller beamsplitter for prosumer camcorders is $2,895.

Our Red Camera beamslpiiter 3D rigs are actually $4,495. That's still an incredibly deal when you look at the other options. And our 50/50 glass is a very high-quality, scientifically engineered item.

The Red Camera 3D beamsplitter rig is usually about $4,495. We custom make them to suit. Our smaller 3D beamsplitter, designed for an assortment of pro camcorders is $3,000.

All of our rigs are well worth the money and far cheaper than the competitors. Also, our 50/50 glass is a high-quality, scientifically designed item, that's gotten nothing but great reviews.

Has anyone tested the red beam split rig?

Would be interested to see photos or if anyone owns it or would be willing to rent.

The beam splitter version will be an interesting rig to test out an dthe price seems very fair, however the Parallel rig as it seems by the pic does not offer the most important aspect of this type of rigs which is a Divergence Controll of the Lens direction to be on a "V" adjustable position as to control the direction of were the two lenses converge together to increase and or decrease the DOF in the captured scene, it is great and necessary to control the inter-axial movement of the two cameras but without the Convergence movement control there can't be the level of creative control that is required by a respected Stereographer, not like my self, I'm just but on the start of Sterography, but I would expect nothing less then the full control of my 3D rigs nonetheless :) so I really hope that you have it in there some were and or planned.

Good job on bringing this together.

Karl,

After working with both the PS rig and the ET rig with Reds, how can I be sure that your rig is sturdy enough to rule out movement within the rig while tilting by example ? The PS rig was not sturdy enough, the ET rig is, however with a price of 80 000 US vs your 4000 dollar price tag; why is yours so cheap ?

cheers

Just want to clarify that Element Technica's Quasar 3D rig is priced at just under $70k. Even fully accessorized it comes in at around $70k.

Sorry about this being my first post here. I'm sure I will be getting more involved on the 3D side of reduser now.

Paradise fx has a nice 3D rig for smaller video cameras like the RED1. Also has very carefully matched optics including a pair of Angenieux 15-40's set up for the RED1 camera. And an extremely capable tech staff.

Hi,
Actually Nick, the P+S Technik rig works great with the RED One cameras. Since it is a mirror rig the interaxial can be made very small even overlapping entirely for 2D. Live monitoring is beginning to get easier with the Transvideo Cinemonitor HD3D and using something like Skymicro's Merlin05 card and a 3D ready monitor.

Thanks.

same here!

I realise the ET rig has a number of benefits and motorised controls etc but can't afford one of their rigs at this time.

Be great to hear more details about the beamsplitter rigs from #D Film Factory.
Has anyone tested them??
