Just watched the documentary Easy Riders, Raging Bulls, about the "revolution" in cinema by a cadre of American directors working in the late 60s and 70s (Scorsese, Coppola, Polanski, et al.) Anyway, I bet most of you have already seen it (it's really interesting). But I couldn't help thinking about Red throughout. For one thing, the "revolution" explored in the doc came out of a technological revolution that was devastating the studios (TV was keeping the traditional film-going public away from the theatres). Out of technology and a certain time and place, a new way of looking at film emerged. And I think we all get the sense that it's happening again, fueled by digital technologies. Anyway, check out the doc if you haven't already.
