Nonsense

Ok, I know people have been over this, but I'm still a little confused. When RED does start shipping, will it only be available to the people who "signed up" for it in January and before? Or will anybody, like myself who only became slightly obsessed recently, be able to go ahead and buy it this year?

Thanks.

You can buy one now, and put down a deposit of 10% with the full amount payable at the time of shipping.

However, units will of course ship in the order that they were - err - ordered!

I would imagine that by some time in the middle of next year Red will have caught up with the backlog caused by initial demand and at that point, whenever it may be, orders will presumably be taken at full purchase value and shipped immediately, although of course I'm not associated with the company so that is speculation on my part, although fairly reasonable and safe speculation, imho...

You can place an order now or at any time in the future (10% fully-refundable deposit required). All orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Most likely, if you don't already have an order placed, you will not get a camera this year.

Around 2000 have been pre-ordered so far, so, per the schedule posted by the founder, you'll probably get yours February or March, '08!

welcome to the obsession! since you're new, you can bug the Red guys to post more footage and they won't mind. :)

in fact, start up new threads and post a request for new footage every few minutes.

That's why I always write j/k, that's how it started out, now days teens just write jk. I can't keep up sometimes with all the abbreviations, though, like this one girl wrote me: lol kk bb lyl!

I was like... umm... what just hit me? What the heck does that mean?! Then I later learned it was "laugh out loud, ok, bye bye, love you lots!"

Just off the top of my head I'm going to guess in order of likelihood:

1) Laugh Out Loud, ok bye bye love you lots!
2) Laugh out loud, ok be bodacious like your landlord.
3) Laugh out loud, kill ken because barabie likes your lillywhiteass.

and.... I'm out of ideas.

kk = kiss kiss

Although, I like Gavin's #3 interpretation.

Well, that's what's kind of confusing sometimes, I've seen girls write "kk" to mean "ok," as confirmation, sometimes as a more annoyed "ok I get the idea moving on already..." You're bugging her about something, "Yeah kk, so what else is new?" Something like that, haha.

PS: This is the first post I've made with the new MacBook Pro (I'm up in Oregon for a week so I am using it up here). It's sweet... Studio 2 is installing as I type this. Too bad it'll leave me with only 77 gigs free, yikes.

did you get the HD screen 17" with 4 gigs of ram? Give us a low down on how FCS runs on it....thinking about getting one myself

Hey, yeah it has a 17" monitor, the 1920 x 1200 one, 4 gigs of RAM, 160 gig 7200 rpm hard drive, 2.4 Ghz core duo 2. The computer seems HUGE for a laptop, haha, but that's because my other laptop is just a 12" MacBook I got mainly for vacations (e-mail, Internet, writing, etc.). I just finished installing my software on it today, but I haven't tested anything out yet. Really don't have any footage here to mess around with, but when I get a chance I will definitely be doing some tests of my own just to see how things run compared to my G5 at home.
