Sealed and internally reinforced with my (uncreative, I'll admit) companies name silkscreened on.
What did I pay for these? Nothing. My uncle is a professional-level woodworker and fronted the costs for the entire thing because he loves doing it so much.

Can we get these to order? They look extremely well made, and the personalized touch is pretty sweet.

It'd be cool if you could brand the name into the wood instead of silk screening. Doesn't that wear off after a while?

Nice ones.
And they should give you a very nice ROI, since I was always surprised at the rental costs for apple boxes.

Hey all,
I'll see about getting these made to order. The silkscreen will cost a bit extra. The whole set will still probably go for under $100 without shipping. Silkscreen will be around $40 extra for the set.
As to a durability of the silkscreen itself, I just tried scratching it off with my nails and it didn't budge.
Have a nice day.

Hey Raul! Glad you like them. Pleasure to do business with you :).
Matt, I would be happy to help you. We have a website now (Been busy, myself!) at www.madlyfins.com. You can order through there for now. If there is a problem (May be, it's a brand new site) then please PM me with your address and I'll get you the paypal address.
Thanks!

Hi, that looks really great!!! I'm very interested in few sets but is it possible though to make them with a hole in the middle, so you can stack them on a "carrying pole"?
Andy Jarosz
06-20-2009, 11:17 AM
Yep, we can do the hole in the middle with only a slight modification to the center support.
This brings up a good point, has there ever been any applebox-type piece of equipment (other examples are basso blocks, hi-hat boards, etc) you wish you had, but didn't exist?
I know Solidworks, we could totally develop some brand new products :).

out of interest, how heavy is the set? Thinking in terms of shipping......

Shipping to LA for a set has so far been $45, and I'm in Chicago. Obviously if you are closer, it will probably be less.

This is a reference for anyone who wants to purchase these in the future. I am happy to fulfill any sized order. We are going to start just making these and sending them out as they come, so feel free to order.
Full- $30
Half-$25
Quarter-$25
Pancake-$20
Full set-$100
Logo printing: $35 one-time setup fee, $2 a box to print. We can do any color you wish.
Shipping to LA: $45/set. Smaller orders and orders closer to Chicago will probably be less. If you live in Chicago you are welcome to stop by and pick them up.
Shipping out of U.S.: Can't do right now. Working on it, but there's some weird paperwork going on with it. Hopefully within the next few weeks.
Discounts: I am willing to cut big discounts if you want to provide a service, rental, etc instead. Because I care :).
Ordering: www.madlyfins.com came online a few days ago. It's got a fancy PayPal ordering system. If for some reason that does not work (or just confuses you) PM me with what you want and your address, and I will get you the PayPal email to send directly too.
They're cheaper then most boxes because I'm just like you guys. I want good quality at a low price. They don't skimp on quality (and are higher quality then a lot, too) and aren't gonna fall apart (even when pickaxed.) (Don't ask me how I know that.)
Have a fantastic day everyone!

Andy, thats a pretty cool thing that your doing. Glad your helping folks out and not really thinking about a big bucks profit margin stuff. And I like your title on your website "Director Of Stuff".
Or reminds me of old school grassroots simple inventions like a link i got earlier about Cinebag http://www.cinekinetic.com/

So I purchased 1 set of these guys apple boxes, just to try them out.
They are now in,
And to my surprise I cursed when I opened up the box, repeatedly.
The quality, the craftsmanship, the work, the finish is beyond what any apple boxes ive ever seen.
Its the kind of work that goes into expensive kitchen counters.
I now don't even want to use them because i dont want to mess them up.
The price is absolutely unbeatable and I have looked.
I personally will be buying 3 more sets.
And I get nothing from saying this but If you need apple boxes or you think you need apple boxes.
You just cant go wrong with these their bad ass.
GREAT JOB ANDY and his family.
Thank you guys.
I will order more shortly.

Wow! Thanks for the compliments guys, they mean a lot!
BigLu, you should know we don't condone using them as kitchen counters. Then again... :)
(And I hope you don't mind me using some of the responses on the website!)

What is the turnaround time for 2 sets with screening? My logo would look kick ass on them!
On a slightly related note, anyone know of a microfiber (for cleaning glasses and such) supplier that will do a logo treatment like this?
Andy Jarosz
07-02-2009, 06:11 PM
Way to hijack the thread.
Kidding, anyway. Turnaround time is about 2 weeks, screened or unscreened. The next person to order gets them quicker since we have a few sets "in stock."

Andy,
You provide a spot to link a logo image and specify color. What is the best format for this? EPS, PDF? And for color is it best to just embed it into the EPS for the logo? Do you accept Pantone colors (not that color accuracy matters on an apple box)? Or do we just specify that we would like "dark red" or something?

I see this has been revived again, hooray :). I'll try to answer all your guy's guestions.
Hi Andy,
Great work! Have u started shipping out of U.S? We might need a set in India.

Not yet, and I apologize. The shipping within the US is not the cheapest as it is, and sending it overseas would not only cost a lot more but also entail more paperwork. I will keep looking into what we can do, though.
Definitely interested will figure out a first order and PM you. But can you silkscreen the all logo, like mine or just the "KETCHFRAME" part?
Hi, got your PM and will also reply to that. Consider that your logo will essentially be a vector graphic and there is no "in between." This means it's a black (or any other color) and white logo, and ONLY "black" or white. The white is the color of the box itself. In short, we can do the entire logo, however it may not be the best choice or look the best.

The best format is something with transparency (png, tga, exr, etc) and remember these are hand screened, none of that machine business ;). You you can upload the image to a web service (imageshack, photobucket) or just send it in an email to andy@andyfilms.net and make sure to include the name you ordered the boxes under.
You can get as specific as you want with the colors.
