Transfer of ownership for trade-in

Hello..

Ive had a RED for about a year now.. Id like to know just one thing..

Can i just pay for the transfer of ownership only (not the warrantee inspection) so as to get a trade in for the EPIC X reward?

Or must i fork in the entire 1250$ for that right?

I don't suppose the transfer of ownership can be done in the UK yet, for those who cant afford the customs taxes?

may I add a small question? what do you need for the ownership transfer? an email by the old owner and one by the new owner?

wow. really? no answers? there must be lots of europeans who need ownership transfers and worry about customs :( share the wisdom .. i know its been discussed before, but maybe something new has developed?

I'm not sure why customs would be an issue. You already own the camera, the actual transfer of ownership within RED's records is what you are after. I believe you can transfer ownership without the check-up and without buying the warranty. US $750 I think. If you do decide to do the camera check and warranty, I believe the Pinewood UK facility can do that.

Best thing to do is contact someone at RED directly.

i thought the " evaluation " or check up was to make sure the camera was up to RED spec (& to make sure camera was not modified ) so it would be good for the Epic trade in (17,500 value) ...

$500 is for evaluation ... 750 for the change to your name & you get 90 day warranty.
so i would assume if you do NOT do the name change ( 500 + 750) then the original person that bought the camera still holds the place in line not the used owner ...
having Red look at the used camera protects the new owner down the line at Trade in time on Epic ... wouldn't you hate it if you bought a used Red expecting a 17,500 trade in and 6 months later find out when you trade it in it was modified and doesn't qualify for the trade in ?
