Red Pro Pocket Camer - "more info released in the coming weeks"?

"1. RED is developing a Professional Pocket Camera – a miniature
camera. Ted couldn't give me any further details on it, but said there
would be more info released in the coming weeks."

So, a couple of weeks have gone by - Ted, any more info?

All I want to know is whether it will have a fixed lens or a PL or Nikon (or other - C?) mount. So that I don't make bad lens buying decisions and have more money to spend on Red stuff instead.

Iif you posted that "the Red compact zoom will work with an upcoming pocket camera too", I'd want to order it (use it on rental Red Ones and my HV20 with PL mount 35mm adapter until your pocket camera comes out) and not buy any Nikon lenses.

We've all speculated on this and I REALLY don't want to start another thread on speculation.

Just when you're ready, Red folk, please post the answer here, or in a clean new thread or something. Sometimes you post info in page 8 of a thread - that's okay, it's just that there are a dozen Red Mini threads and scouring through each one on a daily basis for info isn't much fun. And search doesn't work too well because we're not even 100% sure of what the name of the finished product will be.

I'm about to undergo a week or two of trying not to post on Reduser too much - just wanted to know if you guys could answer my most burning question before that ;)

I'm also in agreement that we don't need a huge thread on this (again). There's already one here discussing this very topic over several pages. I think RED has its hands full with the RED One for right now and I wouldn't expect to see much about the pocket camera until very late this year, possibly early next year. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't unveil anything before NAB.

I totally agree. Except that Ted said there'd be "more info released in the coming weeks", in the middle of April.

A phrase like "the coming weeks" could mean any number of weeks. At the time of the NAB interview I would guess that Ted couldn't anticipate the production delay for RED One. All things are subject to change with RED, and their natural first priority is to finish the development of RED One and it's accessories, and get them into production. I'd say sometime after all that is completed we'll hear more about the Professional Pocket Camera.

You are right, as usual, Gibby! That's why I waited 11 weeks before bringing this up. It's just that "coming weeks" to me doesn't equal "3-5 months' time", just as "coming hours" doesn't mean "3-5 days' time".

Yes, that has always been clear from the start. But generally they try really hard to keep to their word, so I was hoping they'd reveal Pocket Camera info when they said they would.

I wounder if they pulled everyone off the pocket camera to help get the Red out in a reasonable time. Its not like they are Sony with huge amounts of peope to work on any given job.

Let's at least keep all the pocket camera discussion localized to one of the larger threads on the matter. Besides, I think when it's been said that RED will update us on the PPC when they do have information, that pretty well addresses the original topic. ...Or as best as we can hope for right now.
