View Full Version : Timecode Logging

I'm editing a film shot on the Red and I've been logging the timecode start and end times for each picture and sound element (recorded separately on a 744T). I'm not sure what the benefit of logging this information is. Could anyone help me out here? Logging this kind of info makes a lot of sense when dealing with tape based media but this is digital and the timecode on the camera and sound don't even match... so in my case I'm syncing everything using the slate. I imagine it could be beneficial if there are issues with an EDL, so it does provide verification but... If I'm wasting my time please let me know, I want to be as safe and thorough as possible but not if what I'm doing is pointless. Thanks! Tommy

Hey,

Iv just assisted and edited a film shot on RED and Audio was also recorded seperatly and just synced up using slates. I think it may be a waste of time logging all the timecodes all I did was write down the card number and which each shot contained and any notes Id need but the timecode, your right is pretty useless with solid state.

All the Best

Lauren
