I'm going through a product catalog for high speed and scientific cameras

and I'm seeing a number use thermo-electric cooling.
I was wondering how much this could drop the noise floor if they can produce
-50K verses ambient temperature?
The double shutter option in some of the units is interesting. Useful for high-contrast scenes. How to remove inter frame ghosting/softening, I'm not sure, probably image tracking/frame building software. This has been discussed before.
While Red doesn't call itself a scientific camera company, I wonder if there is something to be gleaned here?
