BNCR mount?

Hi,

Anyone working on a BNCR mount for RED one? Should be easy since it's not that different from PL.

It's still the best (strongest) mount out there. Plus, there is a huge inventory of BNCR lenses, much cheaper than PL.

Should be a big help for many people.

I've seen a few old BNCR mounts such as Cookes. I'd say there were more ARRI Bayonet around though. I'd probably get either converted to PL mount anyway. It increases their resale price and means you don't need to worry about changing mounts on your RedOne.

Many BNCR mounted lenses won't convert easily to PL.

I have a set of SuperBaltars in BNCR mount (not BNC) and access to a set of Canon K-35 lenses, also in BNCR.

And true, a good part of BNCR lenses don't easily convert to PL. And plus, converting them would be expensive. Having a quickly replacable BNCR mount on the RED would nake much more sense.

PS As a side note, I think not only a BNCR but also a BNC mount (accepting BNCR lenses) would prove very worthy on the RED. You could use VERY OLD lesnes such as the old Baltars from the 1920's for specific projects. Knowing that there is no shutter on the RED makes this project possible and very appealing.

That's to funny. Why I asked in the first place is because I have a deep seated love of the Super Baltars. Something about that rich almost creamy look combined with good resolution they achieve without the use of additional filtration. Just makes me warm and tingly all over. lol
The K-35s were a big breakthru at the time with their fast stop.
The other thing I like about the S.B. is the tank like mechanics. They will last forever.

No
Unless someone wants to set me up with a lathe (I prefer Hardinge or Monarch brands but a Clausing will sufice) and a vertical mill (Bridgeport will do but I do so like those Swiss tool makers mills) a surface grinder, toolmakers drill press with an Albrecht chuck, Baldor diamond tool bit grinder and misc. Brown & Sharpe measurement tools.
Oh yeah, and a pink quartz surface plate.
