Hey, I've been looking up information on JPEG 2000 16 bit files, and I was wondering if anyone here has actually used them. I'm considering the file for rendering out smaller image sequences from my Andromeda files. Thanks!

What do you want to know? I can confirm the option exists. They are also ridiculously slow to render and decompress.
I would strongly encourage you to take a look at Cineform if you can't wait for REDCode to be released.

Yes, I noticed how slow it is rendering out the image sequence to it :( very tiny in size though, still waiting to put it through its paces on a green screen shot. Cineform isn't a rendering option for me... can I get a plug in for it? From what I understand, Sculptor HD should be able to render out to anything that my system can support. Thanks!

Cineform Neo (up to 2k) is your best bet right now for wavelet compression. It is available from cineform http://cineform.com/products/NeoHD.htm for $799.
That is if you can't wait until the end of August for the speculated release date of REDCine/REDcode/First Batch of RED cameras.

Wow 800 bucks.... will Redcine and Redcode be freely available codecs?

For that $799 you will get the fastest, highest quality codec on the market for the greater 5:1, and NEO 2K a more than just a codec. Whatever new a competitive solution offers that will be playing catch-up. Considering price : while JPEG2000 is nearly available for free, it isn't competitive, too slow, too painful for production use. Try is it, and try CineForm. :)

Yes. Redcode will be made freely available when it's released. Whenever that may be.
