I´d be particularly interested to stay in touch with the owners that are within 1-3 hrs drive of Oslo, that might save the day if the RED (God forbid) ever fails in the midst of a shoot....

Sometime in 2007 all of Norway's cinemas [over 200] will go 2k, all they need now is secure last bit of financing from state [which they will get], so RED will be on time in Scandinavia.

And yes, I live in Oslo and waiting for second round of reservations.

Many of my ancestors emigrated to the USA from Norway and Sweden in the 1800's. I've visited Scandinavia several times...and I'm looking forward to many more times! When I get RED #8 I'm planning a shooting trip to Norway, Sweden, and Finland. My wife is a professional production coordinator and photographer - she'll be with me. We'll be happy to meet up with any of you while we're in Scandinavia so that you can check out the camera. RED #8 will be one of the first cameras to ship, so that may be your first chance to see and handle a RED One camera.

Beyond that, there are tons of flights from Los Angeles and the Bay Area to Scandinavia, so we plan to fly to Scandinavia frequently. I'll have two REDs once my second one delivers (#700).

Hey Gibby. Don't miss out on Denmark - I'll buy you a Carlsberg and give you a tour of Copenhagen :-)

Hey Tony

I thought about Denmark after I posted. I've been to Denmark before and really enjoyed it. After my stay in Denmark last time I simply took a ship over to Sweden and then traveled by train throughout Sweden and Norway (and via ship from Stockholm to Helsinki). When we get to Scandinavia we'll make a stop in Copenhagen and hook up with you!

Right! One more for Oslo here. We should all of course keep in touch as most projects will need more than one Red.

Let's not forget the 4k projectors. Trondheim was the first to get one. More to come as Norway is part of a digital cinema test program called NORDIC (NORway's Digital Interoperability in Cinemas).

Hey Mikko,

When I get to Scandinavia in the Spring I'll come to Helsinki so you and Martin can look over my RED camera system. I'll probably take a ferrie from Stockholm.

Cheers!

On a related note, I just read today that SF Bio, Sweden's leading cinema chain (210 screens in 21 locations) will shortly be installing HDTV 1920x1080 projectors in their cinemas. The projectors will show pre-show advertising, screenings, previews, and general media content.

I am sure I speak for more than myself when I say we won´t say no to that!

Let us keep in touch, I´d love to throw a barbeque in my garden for you and your wife and any other Redheads in the area, provided it´s still summer of course...

Mikko - You'll like Alaska! I've shot throughout most of the panhandle and Inside Passage (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Sitka, etc.). I have friends in British Columbia that want us to visit soon. If we get up that way, we may take a ferrie into Alaska. Alaska looks a lot like Norway! Good luck on your journey. PM me when you know when you'll be back in Helsinki. The definite dates for our Scandinavia trip have not been set - it will depend on when I get #8. If you happen to be in Helsinki then, I'd be happy to meet up with you.

Martin - even if Mikko isn't able to be there, we'll still come to Helsinki. I've been there but my wife hasn't.

Ouch. I pity the fool who has to make Ketchikan look nice. :p

I went to High School in Juneau and have been back just about every summer since.

And yes, Norway is (almost as) beautifull too.

- Mikko ... is looking forwards to seeing RED in Juneau.

True..if you could ever get it to stop drizzling in Ketchikan...and keep the drunks out of your shots!

Juneau area is amazingly beautiful...tons to shoot.

I directed and shot a series of commercials for Alaskan Cable Network in the late-90's. Fun stuff!

Thanks OliRogg...we'll try our best to get there! I've always wanted to visit Iceland and never been there. I've visited 65 countries in my life so far...

That's way cool about 4 RED cameras in Iceland.

Happy New Year to you!

Yeah...in California it's only 8:15pm. I must be a dedicated REDhead hanging out on REDUser on New Years Eve!

me, you, Kjetil Haugen, helgetjelta, jacob hultgren, zuvis

That is six, or am I missing anything... it´s not unlikely that there are more, reserved by people who don´t frequent this forum.

I am sure a lot of people and the major rental places will start ordering their REDs when they realise what it is...
