Will there be a RED factory, or will different parts be bidded out and assembled at headquarters? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just wanted to know. Thanks...

I ran across this on the oakley website... If this is any indication of the level of testing that RED One is going to be tested to I don't think theres much to worry about in terms of durability.

Nice pictures of Oakley HQ. But Oakley != RED. They share the same founder, in Jim, but that's it. RED has it's own offices.

Good answer Jim! Although we did, in a earlier post over at DVXUser tell them "how". I think I let out the secret that magic pixies did everything.

JimWhere or how. This is a business secret and period. And if we wish all the best success to all (our) RED success, we must and should understand what a business secret means.

I think I let out the secret that magic pixies did everything.

But I'll never forget the day I was working parade route in Disneyland that Vandenberg sent off a rocket at sunset which left a brightly lit vapor trail high in the sky. This lady asked me in all seriousness how did we make such a beautiful light every evening at the park.

She was finally satisfied when I told it was just a reflection of a full moon on the dome covering the park.

Ignorance is Bliss even when it comes to our Beloved RED.

In Gentle Care,

Rosco

BTW: I've seen similiar sights flying over Cook's Corner after a few brews and that would be a great testing place for Spike! -- http://www.bikerstuff.com/cookscorner.htm -- Hint: Spike's dad is often there!

Those tunnels lead to "The Third Man" tunnels in Vienna, the picture below

"Suddenly that light at the end of the tunnel has disappeared. Is Harry running away from that exit now,
and also on the far side of the river? Has night suddenly fallen ( although that whole trap was set at night,
in which case where did that light from the tunnel's end come from in 122?)"

I'm sorry, I'd take the ugly purple building and paint it RED before sitting in a crazy hunters blind on Venice... and by the way, I road my bike past this for 7 years.... best 18 mile ride in California up and down the beaches of So Cal.

I think questions about manufacturing are legitimate concerns. If you run a business, you would want to have some confidence that your equipment comes from a stable source with good quality assurance and support. This is more important if you're a big business and you're going to buy lots of equipment. Red is new to the video field and they don't have any manufacturing track record. So I think it's normal for people to have some concerns.

Having said that, I think Jim has every right to keep any information proprietary. Of course, when the camera comes out, these concerns may be dispelled, but until then, customers can weigh the risks and vote with their wallets.

RED and Oakley are different companies, but they share the same founder and chairman. If anyone takes the time to investigate Jim Jannard they'll find that he has a record of being meticulous in demanding quality in the products of his companies, and delivering on what he says he is going to do. Oakley is a multi-billion dollar international company that is publicly traded - and their business is optics. Jannard has stated that he wants RED to be the best digital cinema camera company in the world. He wanted Oakley to be the best sunglass company in the world, and I believe he has met that goal. Based on Jannard's past business performance and ability to get quality products manufactured I don't see the "How Will it be Manufactured" question of this thread as being an issue of "Will it be good quality?", or "Can they do it?", but rather issues of curiosity. To me, its not an issue of "Can they do it?", but rather an issue of "When can I get my hands on it?".

I personally know RED will deliver on what they have projected. I'm merely anxious to get the tools in my hands and plug them into my production calender for 2007.

I was just curious. I have been following red developement at DVXuser and lurked here for a couple weeks. That was a dubious first post I suppose. No, I don't work for a rival. I work for a newspaper.

Jim's definitely wise to keep a tight lid on manufacturing locations. The other boys find that out, it's small beer to approach a assembly line monkey with some cash and get yourself all sorts of interesting hunks of gadgetry. Then, it's off to China!

I will not straight out admit to it but I may have worked on MVP (most valuable primate) back in 2000. Hey a guys got to pay the bills right. Well I can say easily monkeys are the funniest animals ever.

I took no offence to what you said and felt you just said it in fun. These forums are dificult because it is hard to really understand if people are just joking around.
