View Full Version : My headphone audio has died. . .

Hi all. . .
I cannot get any audio out of the headphone jack of my audio-upgraded RED One. I don't know when the problem actually started, except that it clearly worked prior to the audio upgrade. I'm on Build 18. I have turned the mix buttons to the correct input, and have raised the levels of the headphone, but nothing comes through at all. The levels are strong on the camera, but I can't hear them. It's rather irritating on days when I'm not going double-system (like tonight!). (It makes no difference which headphones are plugged in. Three different headphones don't work.)
Any thoughts on what I might be able to do to alleviate this situation?
Thanks.
Stephen

Have you contacted the Bomb Squad? They should be your 1st line of defense.

Yes, I've run into this a few times...
Go into System-Sound-Rec Enable- turn the channels you're using off and then right back on...Headphones will activate.
Seems to happen after power cycles, Red is aware of this.

Same problem here after upgrading to build 18. I've heard it's a build issue bug.

We just spent the last 3 days without being able to monitor through the camera. Tomorrow I will try Eli's suggestion. Hope it works.

I have this same problem. Bomb squad told me to turn off and back on was fix. I think this is a feature so sound guys will stay away from the camera ;)

Yes, firmware team are investigating. This may be related to the Phantom Power not remaining enabled across power cycle bug.

A friend of mine who is also a DP had a similar issue with headphone output going cold, and managed to fix it by switching the headphone channel monitoring over to 3+4 and then back to 1+2 (they were recording 2-channel audio onto 1+2). Issue occurred after every power-cycle, fix worked every time once they'd discovered it - maybe your issue also?
FWIW, I would love to see the power-cycle dropping of phantom power fixed...

Dom.

I definitely noticed this too, re-enabling the Channels fixes it for me.
