Would these two zoom go well with the RED ?
I already plan to buy the nikon 17-35mm and am looking at the following to complete the "package".
Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto AF Zoom Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8D Autofocus Lens
Nikon Zoom Telephoto Zoom-Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 ED AF-D Autofocus Lens with Tripod Collar
Are the above 2 nikon zoom lenses have known issues/problems with video ?

or is the 28mm -70mm better than the 35mm-70 mm ?
I like to avoid prime lenses as to minimize dust entering the sensor. Anyone know if the RED would be "weather seal" or at least partially sealed ?

Many people think that you should get the 12-24mm because RED's sensor is "cropped" like a Nikon DSLR. I believe, in another thread, the conversion factor was figured out to be 1.6/1.7. So 12-24 is 20-40mm in old money..:turned:
Also, "cropped" is not a bad thing. It is true 35mm, but movie camera 35mm; which runs vertically through the gate, not horizontally as a stills camera does.

The 12-24mm is a DX lens, so its a no-go.

Ken Rockwell rates the 12-24 above the 17-35 and correct me if I'm wrong but with the Birger Nikon adapter the 12-24 begin an AF-S won't present any problems using it on Red. Personally I see little point in purchasing the Red Nikon adapter if the Birger one comes in at a relatively decent pricepoint.
The 12-24 is F4 though so it's a bit slower than the 17-35. Though it does raise an interesting point. Since the 12-24 has a smaller image circle that fits the red sensor better than the 17-35mm that 12mm certainly represents a better wide angle than 17mm on the 17-35mm.

From Ken Rockwells review of the 17-35mm (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/1735.htm):
"This lens ROCKS for film cameras. It's not a wide angle lens for a digital camera; for digital cameras get the 12 - 24 mm AF-s instead."

I am going to wait until I see some results with Nikon vs. the RED lenses.
I already have 7 Nikkor lenses - so I will use those first. Once the kit gets
paid down and we are getting some good feedback I am sure the RED zooms
will be in sight during 2008. I also do stills work and will be experimenting
with shooting live with the RED and doing some comparisions to
RAW still shooting. I could imagine you exposure properly and pull
some really good still shots from a 60p or 30p 4K stream??

yes I think it could make my stills camera redundant for some corporate jobs, especially as it is difficult to shoot stills and video at the same time:umm:
RE: earlier post
I believe that Nikon DX lenses will work with the Birger mount
