Okay, so I've got my tickets and hotel now booked for NAB. I'm now in the process of figuring out what to register for.
My question for Jim and Red Co...are you going to be offering any kind of Red training? I saw your hour slot at the DP workshop and I'll be there, but I doubt I could learn much in that hour I haven't already read by that point. Given that I'm reserve #27 I'll either have my Red by NAB or close, so it'd be so nice to get some training right from the source.

I'd love to know if there's going to be a RED "night" with a screening, get-together, etc... I typically only go to NAB for 2 days and would like to plan which two days those should be...

Yes, I'm reddy for that as well.

I'd be surprised if RED didn't have a mixer at NAB for RED reservationists, press, and VIPs.

In my grand dream there'd be a get together like the CineAlta Festivals of years past... book a theatre; like out at the New Orleans, or the AMC down the strip, or a hall at Bally's and then have that mixer before/after the screenings.
I would suspect that by NAB there would be enough footage from the various prototypes to have a good 20 to 30 minute presentation, a mix of all sorts of styles... extreme sports, drama, nature. What a way to validate the whole RED concept... and certainly a way to demonstrate the RED workflow from camera to projection. A booth on the show floor is one thing, but this takes it to another level.
Just a suggestion... but it seems possible based on current predictions of progress...

Well, just as long as you don't absolutely need to be 21 to get in, I'm all set (I'm 20 until June). But yeah, I'd thought that there'd be a party/get together announced already, I know Kelly provided a VIP passcode for the exhibits but that was it. Still, we've got a few months yet, I'm sure something'll pop up. :)

Oh a mixer would be awesome! It'd be great to meet all you other redservationist (sounds like a cult). Oh and Jack, I think there should be tons of booze, but you should be there too. When I was below 21 I never got carded for high end things like an invite-only mixer, you get carded for things like buying beer at the grocery store or trying to enter a normal bar.
But, I still really want some Red training at NAB. Come on guys!

Well I hope you fortunate souls who get to go to NAB, and all the other cool tech related US Based shows, will report back with due diligence. Stuck out here in Palau is fantastic but the isolation can be a bitch at times.
I'm actually planning a possible move closer to the U.S within the coming two years, there is still some great diving around the Caribbean. Just need to be a bit more accessible.
Cheers,
Mark.

CamDiver, how's the Internet connection speed over there? Is broadband (or the equivalent) available?

A RED mixer sounds nice. I'll probably just drive in for one day and I'll schedule that day to coincide with any RED get together.

Bwaahahahahahahahaha !!!! LMFAO....... Broadband??? I should be so lucky. We are on dial up so read SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW at times max 56Kbps.
And get this, at the dive shop we have five computers hooked up to a router, one connection and we pay in excess of $300 per month for Internet !!! The 56Kbps line is sold as DSL here in Palau. Only one telecommunications company so no other option.
