I'm checking post this morning, and all of a sudden, I'M BANNED!. So I'm thinking to myself, why? Well the answer is right there, I violated the username policy, or at least so they say. I do however remember sending in my info to Jason back in May, but I guess it was overlooked. Well Jason, please be so kind as to un-ban me, as I did follow instructions, and it would be nice to get back to my normal profile.

Thanks

Von... it seems like not many got the news that ure supposed to send ure request through the control panel, you litterally enter ure name and send the request through this specified field.

I've been banned two days after activating my account 'cineparts' because of 'violating the real name policy'. What??!

There is no such policy readable when you are in the process of registering, nor I can find it in written, quite frankly!
The bad thing: I was in the middle of discussing an issue in a thread.

This was at 4th of July!

Now, after waiting so long, and after three unanswered emails to jason@landmine.tv, I digged down again and found this thread.

What can I do?

Chris

Hey Chris ,
Since the 1 of June 09' Real User-names has been made compulsory .Prior to this, the changeover was voluntary, although some user-names were not seen to in this time frame so many people are still using fake names, albeit unintentionally .Information for the mandatory policy was made clear at the the time, on the forum and registration page. However, since then there has been an alteration to the forums software inadvertently changing it back to default settings ,hence loosing the additional information on the registration page and also the (later added) ability the change user name by request in the user control panel .So for now the only way to have people conform is to ban them unfortunately, with request to contact jason@landmind.tv and submit real name .
As you could imaging this is not and easy feat considering the volume of traffic on the forum, and the fact that only one person has enough system privileges to change user names, which makes this a very tediously & arduous task. You along with others are currently awaiting user name verification which will be seen to on an individual basis so don't expect it to happen right away, However it will be seen to A.S.A.P. If you have an Important issues you need addressed immediately, contact Red directly other than that you need just sit tight.

NOTE: Make sure you type exactly how you submit your real name (including spaces and/or dots .) when you try and sign in

Hi Christian,

thanks for your quick reply!

I clearly understand that you have to keep the forum clean and in some extend might have to discipline some users.
This whole thing makes communication easier and more personal. I appreciate that!
On the other hand, let me explain my situation: I registered on July 1st, and even though I read all instructions thoroughly, there was not the slightest sign of a notification that would indicate that I probably would run into a problem (same to obviously many other members). I registered with a company name and filled out the 'company' line. Where's the problem? Everything was fully visible and my signature disclosed all information necessary to identify who I am. No secrets, no traps. You certainly can show this up in my blocked account.

I registered a new account today and the only message I got during the sign up process was this:

So: where do I find the real name rule? It is the same message I got when I signed up the first time.

Obviously the problem is on your side, and I kindly ask to fix this very soon and to reactivate my account cineparts.

Many thanks in advance!
Chris

The rule on registration was an addition to the default forum registration(what youve posted above), due an alteration of the forum software(@ an earlier stage) this addition was inadvertently deleted . it may take a while before these issues are seen to . in the mean time please try to be patient i understand your frustration however youre not the only person who has to be seen to. like i said before there is only one guy able to change user-names so please allow for grace period.

Danke
