View Full Version : Canon 135mm f2.0L USM users. . . do you have an image shift issue?

Hi all. . .

I just got my brand new Canon 135mm f2.0L USM lens for the Birger mount. It looks amazing. . . breathtaking bokeh. . . but, and this is BIG but, it has a slight image shift issue. Of the five lenses I now have on hand (with three more on the way), this is the only one that has this problem.

When racking from one point to another, at the point of focus reversal, there is a small but very perceptible jump in the image from left to right or right to left.

If find this distracting and irritating, and I wonder if anyone else has noticed this. I found the same thing with my Nikon 70-200mm lens when I was using the Nikon mount and hand-focusing, and I sold that puppy el pronto because of it. I'd really like to be able to use a 135, but this bothers me. Except for this issue, it's an amazing lens.

My question: Is this endemic to the lens? Or is it just a bad sample?

Thanks much.

Stephen
