Jim/Guys,
The more i see of the camera the more interesting it looks.
I'd love to see the camera built in a real world studio mode by that i mean -
Red body with Arri Bridge plate, 19 mm rods, ff3 follow focus, studio mattebox, 10:1 zoom, Preston zoom control, Assistants monitor, Cine tape etc. Similarly a Real world handheld mode for features would mean a Red body, Clip on mattebox, Prime of choice, Cine tape, Preston/Arri LCS, handheld bracket etc.
Have you done much testing with the Red in these scenarios; are there any photos available? Does the Red have enough power ports to power all these aks or will it need splitter boxes?
Apologies if this has been covered, im new to the forum and although i did a search and couldnt find anything.
Sincerely
S

The camera is and will be tested / used like this (on the Soderbergh shoot for example).

Thanks Rob - Will we need to wait for the film to be released before we can see/hear about how its performing under those conditions?
Thanks JohnF, i had seen that but unfortunately that handheld setup wouldnt be suitable for the type of work i do.

Hi Stephen,
Yeah I though as much from your requirements it was more that I'd just found the image myself! And it was nice to see RED being used with some kind of scale rather than a pack/static shot.
I take it you've seen this thread/shot (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3154).
The way I'm looking at RED is that they've built a camera body that can have a hugely customizable frame that can take standard film gear. My impression (so far) is that apart from being 4k digital not too much will be different in terms of how and what one chooses to "hang off" the camera rig. Though of course having a 2hour film mag the size of a battery is a biggy!
But yes I wouldn't mind some pics too. With the beta's being involved in shoots right now I'm pretty sure we'll see some soon.

Thanks JohnF I had seen the photo but not the thread.
If that baseplate is ony 15mm does anybody know if a 19mm version will be available?
Is Arri's baseplate compatible with the Red Body or is there too much of an offset?

Thats getting there...
How positionable is the EVF? I'd need to be able to position it the same distance as a 35mm camer with an extension viewfinder for use with a Geared head - is that possible?

You can completely remove the EVF and use the 10ft cable if you so wanted, otherwise the RedArm will allow you to attach it to various points on the body and angle it as you see fit.

Will the red arm be able to withstand the pressure of an operators weight leaning against it during a long take without shifting position? If its anything like the other aks arms on the market id be doubtfull. Is an extension eyepiece on the drawing boards?

That question was asked once before and I think the answer was yes, it will be very firm and hold position.
Extension eyepiece has not been talked about to my knowledge.
aloha,

There has been a lot of discussion about a potential eyepiece extension... Definitely try a search. There've been some great thoughts on the subject.
My experience with the ARM at NAB was quite positive... The prototypes were quite solid.
