I am truly excited. I have followed RED since NAB 2006 where I met the team, was impressed with their goals, but skeptical. To IBC 2006, where I made two reservations. After NAB 2007 it looked like it was going to work. Now I am truly excited. You guys are completely changing a major industry. And the RAW files was a stroke of genius.

:detective2: I spy with my eye a red fanboy!

LoL!

Ehh....but wasn't RAW available in other cameras e.g. Viper even before RED?

To me, the price point, Jim's marketing and getting the community involved early in the project is the real stroke of genius.

just my 0.0000002 cents worth!

Cheers!

my vote for the most important innovation goes to redcode's wavelet compression algorithm. all other hd/digicinema solutions suffer from large and expensive tape deck/raid/flash storage requiring very high data rates. redcode 4k streams easily enough into modest storage sizes for an affordable price.

Moderator please move this one to the Redgasms section

I agree with wigby. It's all about this idea of keeping it RAW while compressing it.

I ordered the day before Peter Jackson's clips were released. That was enough for me. A digital camera that looks like film. But I agree with all of you.
Look foreword to it's arrival.

Redcode is what made the camera something worth looking at.

When RED was first announced I tit tutted myself about the feasibility just because recording 4k or even 2k uncompressed would have made RED available to a very small segment of the market. REDCode changed everything. Now hopefully it'll deliver on quality.

Yups! how can I forget the wavelet compression based RedCode Raw! That has to be at the top of the list. If only someone can conduct a poll of the most innovative feature of the Red One and the production package....

It will be just interesting to see what users/fanboys/future owners think is the neatest single feature of the camera and its package e.g. lenses, red cage, storage ect.

Anyone up for it while we await for some ISO 4000 moving images! LoL!

REDONE is the first camera that has truly captured my imagination in 20 years.

This was the other one.

The best parts of RED are:
1. 4k acquisition
2. Wavelet compression scheme that allows you to work realistically in RAW
3. RAW acquisition and recording
4. Dynamic range
5. Low costs
6. Affordable cinema lenses
7. A great marketing campaign that brought it to be accepted by industry heavy weights before it was even released.
8. Financial security brought by Mr. Jannard
9. Size, weight and aesthetics.
10. corporate responsiveness to end-user feedback.

That's a decent list....

Even though my order would be somewhat different.

LOL - I have five PXL 2000's! - I modified 3 of them to allow RCA Video/Audio out. Pixelvision rules!
