Well Milan, I am not from RED, but Jim answered that question for me. Yes, the lenses will be up for reservation and I will hopefully be one of the first in line. Good luck Milan. I am as excited by the lenses as I am for the camera and software.

Thanks Andrew, it is good news. Could you remind me about the down payment for lenses reservations? Good luck to you as well.

Hi Milan,

During the first reservation period, the deposit for the RED 18mm-85mm zoom was $750 and the RED 300mm prime was $500 for a total of $1250 USD. Of course things are subject to change, but I hope RED let's us download and prepare the paperwork slightly ahead of time-like sunday night. I think they are going to have a large amount of deposits for lenses ( as well as cameras).

Have fun Milan!

Thanks again Andrew, you are very kind. Hope you will get your RED gear before me. You deserve it!
All the best.

I'm considering the 300mm as the zoom won't be available till end of year (current info). For those reserving it, what uses are you putting it to? Just nature and sport? Anyone planning to use it for dramatic work? Do you think it is a worthwhile investment for dramatic filmmaking or even commercial work?

The 300mm should be available shortly after camera release. The zoom won't be until the end of the year.

All AFAIK.

You guys are too much!:p Thanks. Milan, it seems that Emanuel will get his camera before us so we get to pm him to death and ask a ton questions.:D hahaha.

Hey Bro, a 300mm seems like an obtuse choice at first glance. However, I shoot alot of sports, wildlife, industrial, broadcast/lifestyle and commercial work. In each instance, I find myself wishing this camera and the 300mm were already here for me to use:rolleyes: (like all of us). I cannot wait to shoot SEC college football with the 300mm lens (oh, and thanks to Gibbys' leads I am looking at various efp b4 mount HD zoom lenses for my kit) for all the various image needs for production---bumps, promotional, game footage, pre-game interviews, etc. The point that I am trying to make is that once you are out and shooting whatever it is that you are shooting with your normal "X" camera, take (or in my case borrow) a full sensor dslr, an assortment of lenses, shoot RAW. Now, when you get back to your computer look at what you have in terms of composition and lens performance and imagine that as moving images, then get very excited!

I hope this helps.

Cheers
