I think it is about time to start a German User Group for RED as I have never read such chauvinistic previews as those which appeared in German trade papers for "Professional Production" and for camera men since the last 12 months or so.

How about it German folks?

in berlin, i know of 3 people including us having cameras coming.
munich 2, among then ludwig with 10 (or 5+5) units as i understand
cologne and stuttgart i just -heard- of one each and i have no information (but an idea who it might be)

hamburg seems to be redless, as chromatv went f23 - i hope i am wrong on that one.

It is really great to see some German folks around here and engaged in this early on -- despite the initial cheauvinistic previews in our national trade papers early on.

Although I am a documentary film maker by myself, I am currently engaged with the Globians world & culture Documentary Film Festival project in Potsdam (http://www.globians.com). Our indy-documentary film festival takes part from August 11 - 19th, 2007 at Altes Rathaus, Potsdam-Innenstadt (next to Nikolaikirche). Our program schedule is online as pdf. We will show 72 films in 9 days and are still (hopefully for the last time) projecting in SD. The reason for this is: we are zero-funded by public-subsidies, the entire festival is private risc and we wanted to avoided sponsorship tapestry intensely, too.

Maybe we GUGREDs can meet for real for the first time at Globians Film Fest next week? How about it?

There we will be a "get together" of "Globians Film Makers" as part of our "Begleitprogramm" on Wednesday, August 15 at 16.00 h (4pm). This will be after the European Premier of "Women Behind The Camera" at 2pm also on Wednesday, 15th. -- Alexis Krasilovsky, the director of WBC, will be with us in person. I am sure the RED topic will also be of interest as this camera system will change everything, as is obviously looks like today.

After publishing the Cultural History of Cinematography for 15 years now as the editor of the "Weltwunder der Kinematographie" book series, I am really sure that RED will put film to rest, as least for the recording part.

The long-term storage however is still an unsolved issue and it seems to get even worse without magnetic storage while HDDs are being replaceced with Flash more and more.

So lots of topics to talk about. On Tuesday, August 14th at 5.30 pm (17.30 h, one day earlier) we also have scheduled the "Treffen der Tonbandfreunde" (meeting of the friends of magnetic tape). I am very curious how many will show up for this, too.

Sorry for writing so much. I would be happy if one or the other of your GUGREDs would show up as a sort of first GUGRED meeting during Globians Film Festival.

so we´re going to be the Berlin red community.
By the way - unfortunately no Lenses. I would like to get lenses also, but therefore I will need to find a big spender :sad:
Ordered Red One, productionpack, screen, viewfinder, batteries, reddrives.
Think I gonna hire lenses and ff for shooting...

We have 5 angenieux zooms and zeiss prime sets, so more lenses than cameras and therefore i suppose we will probably find some interesting ways. we are in berlin mitte/prenzlauer berg btw.

Will you be at IBC? Always better to discuss such things face to face.

Kreditkarten akzeptiert RED bis 7.500.- USD, darüber nur Wire Transfer.
Bei der Bestellung sind 10% Anzahlung notwendig, die du über die Kreditkarte machen kannst, vor der Lieferung muß der Rest bezahlt werden. Kosten und Details für den "Wire Transfer§ bekommst du von deiner Bank.
Such mal unter "payment options" im Forum, von Brent gibts da ne detailierte mail.

Die Überweisung dauert angeblich 4-5 Tage. (Lustig, dass der Kameraversand doppelt so schnell ist! Wahrscheinlich benutzen die Banken langsamere Esel)

Ein fraglicher Punkt ist noch Zoll und Einfuhrumsatzsteuer. Ich hoffe, dass FedEx nicht plötzlich vor der Tür steht und ein paar Tausender in Bar haben will (oder die Red wieder mit nimmt).

Wenn der Zoll Verdacht schöpft (wovon auszugehen ist), nehme ich mal an, dass Du dort antanzen darfst um zu blechen. Selbst wenn nicht, ist das ziemlich riskant, denn wenn die Kamera mal wieder ausser landes muss ( sei es für Produktion, Reparatur o.ä. ), könnte es massiven Ärger bei der wiedereinfuhr geben, inkl. Strafgebühr, ist aber nur Vermutung...

nen freund von mir hat sich ne ladung handys aus china via fedex importiert, er bekam die lieferung und musste den rest an fedex überweisen.

Mit dem Zoll rechne ich schon. Ich hoffe nur, dass ich eine Vorwarnung bekomme, wann und wieviel ich an der Haustüre zahlen muss. Hier stand nämlich schon mal ein Kurier und wollte sofort (viel) Geld haben.

Ist zwar ein bisschen spät für eine Antwort zu deiner vorletzten Frage Josch (da Du die Red sicher schon hast) aber bei mir lief es bei früheren Importen so, dass das Lieferunternehmen alles geklärt hat und auch Zoll und UmSt. vorgestreckt hat. Jedoch hatte dies den Nachteil, dass sie auf ihre Vorleistung 2% Gebühr erhoben. Ich wurde zuvor nicht gefragt, wie ich es am liebsten zugestellt bekäme. Musste also mit diesen Mehrkosten leben, konnte dafür alles was Zoll und MwSt. betraf gemütlich innerhalb 10 Tagen überweisen.

Habe gerade die Zollrechnung bekommen. 6.5% auf die Optiken, ca. 3.3% bis 4.9% auf diverse Parts wie Akkus und Gestänge!!! Body: 0.0% (immerhin).

Somit hatten wir ca. 450 Euro Zoll insgesamt. MWST ist ja egal.

Soviel von RED #110 aus Frankfurt am Main!

Is there a German equivalent to Talent Circle or Shooting People?

I am hoping to be filming an independant short in Germany (current locations planned are: Schierke, Harz, Reichenbach, Neustadt (Vogtland)) in Jan.

I am looking for 2 German speaking actors, and some crew.

Also, where is the best place for me to rent lighting and greenscreen? Leipzig I would guess.
