I remember hearing about a break-in at the red factory/studio many months ago--when i first started making reduser my daily addiction. what was that all about? was an early prototype camera taken from the premises? sounds sordid and crazy...

If you really want the sordid details search through the forum archives.

The break-in happened back in the DVXuser days, if memory serves. If you want to read up on it, I'd do a search on those forums. What was stolen and who stole it was never announced in detail for obvious reasons. I seem to remember hearing that the folks that did it didn't get away with the really important data - aka Mysterium data - and they kept a CNC cutout or two. I could be completely wrong, and you shouldn't take this as the truth.
Long story short... we don't know and it's not our business. It was rightfully handled out of public view, and anything beyond that is probably speculation.

So what you're sayin' is Brook, we have to wait for the movie to come out... or will the story of the camera be done as a documentary?

Personally I'd like to imagine Jim Jannard as Robert DeNiro in Casino. "You can have the Red and the Hammer, or you can leave......but you can't have both" :angry2:

Wearing my press hat:)
Brook by saying that "long story short" and "it was handled out of public view" would suggest to me at least, that there was no crimminal investigation or if there was that either charges were not pressed or a case is currently being prepared.
So on a point of principle! :), in a commercial viewpoint all of the above scenarios are of interest to customers.
If as a customer, you are about to base a new business on a new secret product wouldn't you want to know
a) if any secrets were stolen?
b) who was trying to steal them?

Noah,
Hopefully I was progressing the discussion a little as to our right as customers to know stuff about a company.
My post was prompted by your post :) that the details were "sordid" and
Brooks post that seemed to say that we don't have a need or right to know these particular details.

Hey Noah, sometimes i want threads closed too, so I know where you are coming from. But I've found an alternative solution. I just close the thread to me personally by not going there anymore. Try it, it works!

I was just pointing out it's irrelevant at this point in the camera's development and if you have the desire to know more details, you can look into it on your own. If you research the original threads, you'll discover that your questions were already covered and the rest of us have moved on to bigger and better.

I want to let everybody know that I don't know what actually happened and that my first post in this thread was assumptions and opinions only. What actually happened is between RED, the police and the perpetrators.
Since all the info we're likely to receive on the break-in is already in that DVXuser thread, I'm going to lock this puppy down.
