I have deposited for a RED one last spring, but the only number I got was an order number. The last four digits on the order number are in the 2700 range. Is this my reservation number? If not, how do I find my place in line?

I think circa Nab they were at around 2200 reservations. Make up a number based on when you ordered.

I think that firm orders [after the ~1,500 reservations] weren't assigned a camera number. While the cameras will certainly ship in the order that the order was received... I don't think you'll actually have a real number.

It's TOP SECRET guarded by Red gnomes.

Actually, your order is time stamped.

You may not know your reservation number, but it's really just the serial number of your camera. Originally, reservation holders received a titanium "R" (which looks more like an abstract chunk of swiss cheese; don't get me wrong, I proudly use mine to prop up a photo of my wife on my desk:blush:) with their serial number inscribed on it. I believe it was after the first ~1200 orders that they stopped making the "R's", at which point they also stopped giving out the serial/reservation numbers with the orders. According to Gavin's post, you'll be seeing red by the beginning of February:biggrin:

I believe you are right. I have res #792 and I got the titanium "R" and a friend of mine has #13?? and he didn't get the "R". I am going to sell me "R" on eBay after I get my RED for a but load of cash!!! LOL

Are the R's actually valuable? And would people actually buy them? I always looked at it as something more sentimental???

I suppose they are worth whatever someone is prepared to pay.

camera would be much more valuable if you needed to ever sell it and had the R go with it

I heard that when your camera is ready, you'll have the option to take your "R" to RED headquarters where you'll place it in an insert in a titanium case, the serial # will be scanned and authenticated, then the case will open like an iris diaphragm revealing your camera. Okay, I didn't really hear that, but it would be cool.

That WOULD be crazy though... I wonder if the skull and bones society have a similar process... ;-0

If I remember correct, someone (who I believe it was Jarred) said to keep the
R very careful as it would do something very beneficial for us. I wonder
if we are going to need the R to get the $2500 discount or something.
Better yet, there might be something else for us? I should stop being
greedy. :help:

Hi Janghos- Jarred did say that each "R" is worth $500-- this could be a cost breakdown for materials and manufacture x retail, I do not know. From my POV, I have no idea why someone would sell theirs, but people are free to do what they will. We will not need it for the $2500 from everything that I know... cheers- Benz

If you placed it last Spring,
2,700 would be your serial number and that means you will get your camera around March 10th 2008.
