I was just surfing online and found this bag at filmtools. I thought
it would be nice to put my Red One for traveling, since it meets
most of the carry-on regulations in its size. However, I couldn't be
sure since I hadn't seen the inside of it. Anyone has experience with
this item, or has any ideas for traveling in the air?

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to add the picture.

That thing is pretty sweet. Does it come in colors that don't say STEAL ME?

I thought at first glance that it looked a little bit deep for taking on a flight, but according to regulations you're allowed one carry-on bag at 45 in/114 cm and the size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside dimensions of each bag, that is, length + width + height, so at 42 inches it would be fine.

Personally I'd probably go with the Storm Case iM2500 (http://www.stormcase.com/StormCaseSizes/StormiM2500.htm) (Equivalent Peli case is 1510 (http://peli.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1510) though personally I prefer Storm cases).

I like that Zuca bag. Looks less like a "steal me" bag than a Pelican case. Just looks like a travel suitcase on wheels from the pic. I wonder if the metal on that bag would cause paranoid security people any concern. Looks like the metal pieces come off of it and then you could use it for...well leave that to the imagination of the security people. I had to give up my auto-bronzing cream at security last time. Like I was going to bring down a plane by turning everyone a totally fake orange color.

Yes, the metal parts of it was something I was concerned for the security as well.
I couldn't imagine to be asked to open the bag just to reveal a machine
gun that says Red One. lol
From looking at the photo of the Zuca bag, I like the fact that it's got very
nice in-line skate like wheels. I'm not a huge fan of those plastic wheels on
other cases.

i just want to put mine in a dirty cardboard box that says "scientific dog shit study, bio hazard"

but then again the bio hazard might disqualify for a flight:/

I want the hardest to open case with gps tracking built into it, so the second it goes missing I can be tracking it on online using an iPhone or laptop. Call up the police and tell them exactly where it is and get their asses busted. You could even use the cameras batteries and rig them up to the GPS tracker so that it works for about 3 weeks.

Just fly it around on a private jet, so that you don't have to worry about it. :)

I would.. but unfortunately my red took some of my private plane funds
(no joke)

I still like the idea of buying a red, orange or yellow Pelican (or similar) case. Put biohazard labels on it and then rough it up a bit, get it all dirty and nasty looking.

I might spend a couple grand to get a crazzzzzy case that cannot be broken open.. then get a thumb print reader lock.. and have a cell phone tracking device inside the case.. if it gets stolen.. i simply call a number which activates the tracker.. then i go hunting

I'm gonna put my red in a case with a black panther some cobras some tarantulas and a few pirahna's. I figure that should keep it safe.

Maybe the RED spider, "Tex", is a real product. He's there to keep unauthorized personnel from touching your RED. ...Just waiting for Graeme to come up with some killer facial recognition software before they unleash him into the wild.

I personally would never use the Zuca to store a camera, but just returned from a cross-country shoot using the Zuca to pack Anton Bauer Batteries for flight and as a mini-cart to carry batteries and camera accessories on location. We strapped the tripod on the case with elastic straps and clamped on a reflector.

I consider the provided Zuca bag too light duty, so I stuffed a PortaBrace bag inside and added some foam around the batteries in flight. I put the whole rig, sans tripod, of course, in a large duffel bag for flight.

It worked great and held up for many grueling shoot days all over amusement parks and provided a nice seat for operating low-angle shots.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the pic. Now I can tell how compact it is. Maybe too compact to
store my camera. As you mentioned, it doesn't look heavy-duty.

Thanks,
