Updates in this release:
There are so many upgrades in this release, Im not sure we remember them all. Heres the big ones:
R3D File Recovery This is a handy feature that goes beyond REDundead. This utility allows you to select from all your available media, mounted or not, and then finds the R3D files on that media. As it finds R3D files, it will list the files in a table, along with info about those files. It will then organize them by shot date, re-create the folder structure (RDM/RDC), and re-create the reference movies associated with the R3D files. This makes it much easier to find the files you are looking for. It will also let you print out a log to text, CSV or PDF formats.
Separate Location for Checksums You can now assign a separate location to store the checksums R3D Data Manager generates separate from your Red Media. Using this method, the program will not write to the source media. It will still write those checksums to each destination.
Quicktime Render Multiple Clips We now have a queue pipeline for our Quicktime Render. This allows you to render multiple clips at once, using all available processors. Just select the number of processors you wish to use.
Email/SMS Notifications If you have an active internet connection, R3D Data Manager can send you an email or SMS text message when it completes any operation - file copy, quicktime render or R3D recovery. Now you can walk away knowing R3D Data Manager will let you know when its done.
On-Screen Notification In addition to notifying you via email/sms, R3D Data Manager will also notify you by bouncing the icon in the dock. So if you are at your computer working on something else, you can see when R3D Data Manager is done.
Icon Shows State In addition to bouncing, the dock icon will change to indicate whatever state the copy processes ended. Green check for all clear, yellow check for warn, and red X for bad.
DPX decoding We have added DPX decoding to the Quicktime Render. You can now output directly to DPX for further processing.
Auto-start Copies on Red Media Mount Now if you mount a Red Media and have at least one destination setup, it will auto-start the copy process. You dont even need one click!
Red Media Formatting R3D Data Manager will now format Red Media for use directly in the camera. You must have formatted the media in camera at least once for your specific camera build. R3D Data Manager will only format identified Red Media, allowing you to select it from a pull down menu, then set the camera letter and roll number. Click format, and R3D Data Manager will take care of the rest, including auto-unmounting the media.
ETA Copy Process R3D Data Manager will now give an ETA for each copy process. It will show the ETA per destination, so you can see how long each will take.
ETA Quicktime Rendering Similar to the copy ETA, R3D Data Manager will give an ETA for the entire render processing.
Added 1/4 4k Output Resolutions We added 2k (1/4 4k) output resolutions to the Quicktime Render. 1/4 4k 2:1 and 1/4 4k 16:9 supported.
Triple check destinations We have had a couple of cases where the user would setup a destination and then start a copy process, but the destination disappeared. In the past R3D Data Manager would have created a directory in "/Volumes/" and put the data there. Now we triple check that the destination in "/Volumes/" exists just before we start writing to it.
Quicktime Render Now Writes to Activity Log The Quicktime Render now writes to the Activity Log window, so you can see progress there.
Activity Log Auto-Scroll The Activity Log window will now auto-scroll as new updates are posted.
Activity Log and Result Log are Saveable You can now save the Activity Log or Results Log as a text file. The Activity Log is saveable via a menu item, and the Results Log is saveable via the button on its window.
Additional Detail to Activity Log R3D Data Manager now records additional detail to the Activity Log window, helping you to diagnose issues.
Unmounting More Reliable We have now made the unmounting features more reliable by using a different technique.
Removed _001 from Rendered Quicktimes Due to a bug, previous versions were rendering Quicktimes with a suffixed _001.
Render Cores/Processor UI More Specific We changed the UI on the Quicktime Render window to be more specific about processor and core usage.
Project Info now a Sheet We moved the Project Information for Red Media to a sheet, allowing better use of space. The main window still displays project info data, but now it is easier to update that data.
Quicktime UI Smaller We made the Quicktime Render window smaller, allowing those with smaller screens to see all the options.
Quickhelp Points to Items The quick help buttons have been relabeled to "step by step" and now point exactly to the area or buttons you are supposed to work with, giving precise directions. The step by step points our recommended order for setting up your workflow.
As Im sure you'll agree, thats a lot of updates! Most of these updates came from suggestions directly from he users. If you have any recommendations, please dont be afraid to share them. We want to make our product more valuable and usable for those in the trenches!

Other Upgrade notes:
IF UPGRADING FROM 4.1 or earlier: Because we slightly changed the name of the executable, DO NOT auto-update the program. Instead, download the package, delete the "R3DManager" from your applications, double click on the DMG file you downloaded to mount it, and copy the "R3D Data Manager" from the DMG image to your Applications folder. Then re-link it to your dock. As of version 4.2, this is not an issue. So from version 4.2 onwards you can use the auto-update supplied in the program.
