SMPTE 2009: Modern Cinema Master Class
RED 4K - Shooting & Post - Thursday 23rd July 3.00pm - 5.00 pm

Synopsis: Using the Red 4K camera, productions can create high quality images at much reduced budgets.
This workshop will outline the key techniques to achieve high quality images when shooting and grading/handling Red files in post production.
1. Introduction
Brief description of camera, specifications, functions
2. Shooting with Red - Nick Matthews (DOP)
This will cover shooting on a simple set with the Red camera and outlines the strengths and challenges when using the camera.
It will cover exposure, monitoring & data wrangling.
3. Post with Red - Warren Lynch (Digital Colourist)
This will cover post workflow from data ingest to final distribution.
It will cover offline/online editing approaches as well as grading for different linear/log outputs.
In case anyone missed this, it is one of the Modern Cinema Master Classes within the SMPTE 09 Conference at Darling Harbour (Sydney).
Will be a execellent lecture from Nick & Warren using the Red camera.

The Future of Digital Acquisition - Tuesday 21st July 4:30 - 6:00pm
Synopsis: We now know where we stand with 4K acquisition, there’s talk of 9K, 27K and beyond.In addition there is now a merging of stills cameras and new digital cameras.
In short there are also of new tools and new ideas coming very soon to the industry; where will we end up and do we really need it?
This should also be of great interest to Red users. See here for more details....
