Be interested to hear your comments once you've had a chance to benchmark the beast.

no - four cards in four separate machines. Then, when Scratch supports the card - we will add one card in each of our three Scratch systems.

Mark, if you could fill us in at some point on the connectors. We should get ours soon, but I am still not sure I get how to get an HDSDI out of this... If you show or tell, that would be great.
I just don't want to get the RR and not have what we need to get it to work...that's always disappointing. :-)
Thanks!

The first rocket based software will be going out today (Redalert). REDcine-X will be supporting it very soon when it goes out for it's first release.
The SDK will be release very soon and a number of developers are getting cards.

Does that imply that a Rocket enabled Redline release (accompanied by the Rushes front end) is also going out? That would make the system immediately useful..

yes, redline is tied to the same software base but the gui will be first and then redline following pretty close behind.

So you can just hit play in the new RA and bam.. plays on external monitor from 4K High RT ?
Kevin Wild
07-16-2009, 01:06 PM
That's the plan, Simon, as far as I know. They said there would be a realtime downconvert to HD, so you can immediately play it back onto a pro monitor, Plasma, etc.

Just curious if you had to connect the 6 pin power connector for the MAC version or not.
Reason is, if there is an upgraded video card that uses the two on-board 6 pin, if it would get in the way.
BTW, that awesome packaging alone makes me want to buy it :)

So I noticed the quattro in the PC. How do two graphics cards (quattro and rocket) fit in. How do they work together? Or does the Rocket ONLY deal with R3D's? In which case, will leaving the quattro plugged in while outputting from the Rocket still utilize the power of the quattro for effects though routing the information through grand central (mac talk... whatever it's PC equivalent on that custom machine is) to the Rocket?

Mark, thanks for the pictures and hope it is working well in all your systems. Hope we get the juicy details soon! We are all waiting and refreshing, and refreshing...
What is up with the green PCB? No Red PCBs available Jarred? :)
About the RED Rocket installed adjacent to the Quadro or other GTX cards, it seems the GPU won't get much cooling as it is smack against the super hot back side of the big cards. And depending on the model of video card next to it the GPU might be perfectly aligned with the RED Rocket's HSF intake. Is that going to be my excuse for modding mine? And would that void the warranty? :)
http://www.jab-tech.com/images/T/t_3877.jpg (http://www.jab-tech.com/images/D/d_3751.jpg)
Hehe... ok, the HR3 might present other space problems, but there are other solutions. :)
Seriously though, I guess there isn't much cooling necessary based on the tiny HSF selected to be installed from factory.

nope.. takes a very long time for colored PCB's to be made for some reason.. so we will change over to red colored ones when they are done, but it wont be anytime soon.

I'm pretty sure when I asked this before Jarred said it would do an auto downconvert to HD and playout via HD SDI...HD would not require dual link, so one cable should be sufficient.

I thought the RedRocket would eliminate the need for any other type of output card, such as the Kona, or my case (since I'm Windows) the Xena 2k.
Thoughts?

Are freaking kidding me? I'm glad Mark and his Off Hollywood team are gonna trouble shoot the shiiiiit out of that card.
I may not be connecting the dots but do the HDSDI outputs simultaneously output HD signals along with the 2 DVI-D outputs? Thus achieving six HD output signals? Am I reading between the lines?
Is that not to much to ask? Does the RedRocket warranty cover fire?

Its not a thread hijack but one question...
So a portable, with 2x PCIe v.2 x16 and one PCIe x4 able to accommodate an nvidia and the REDrocket, with on board Li-ion UPS for 2 - 3 hours of run time, universal power in 90V - 260V, a quad core 2 duo, SSD boot disk, dual CF card readers, removable 512Gb SSD drive with hardware raid 1, retractable 12" Led LCD daylight bright, DVI, HDMI, HD-SDI outputs, wifi, waterproof illuminated keyboard, waterproof case, shock proof, operated without the need of a table... and many more...
It would be a good idea?
It will have the same size and concept as this portable disk array prototype... which is carry-on IATA compatible...
http://www.motionfx.gr/Files/FP_generic_small.jpg
That already has 4.5 hours autonomy... in 6TB... for on-set usage...
