Hi,
I was wondering if any one is considering going for EOS mount for the sake of more choice.
This will allow not only Canon but other lenses as well (with appropriate adapters). There will be lots more choice.
Contax/Yashica, Nikon, Olympus OM, Leica R, Pentax 42 Screw Mount or Pentax K Lenses
Does anyone see any serious issues?
Is anyone planning for it?

P.S. Just to make clear this post is NOT about; which brand is better!

I think the issue was with collimating the lens or the inability to focus to infinity, though I'm no expert on these adapters, so perhaps someone who is can chime in on them.
Perhaps the LART team could try a few of them out if anyone has EOS ones it might be worth passing it onto them to give it a whirl.

there is really no problem using a nikon lens on the canon mount.
I've been doing it a while....

I know some people who use them too Albert, I'm only going by what I remember others saying. It does seem odd that if Nikons can work fine on a Canon body that there should be any problems with it on RedOne.

They are few adapters avaible, but some do have a problem with inability to focus to infinity (made in china $20).
The one I use is Novoflex

It`s way over priced, but it`s well made.

No adapter allows canon lens to focus to infinity on nikon mount. Better adapters allow nikon lens to focus to infinity on Canon mount, whether eos or fd.
Seems to me that the Canon will be the way to go.
strange how cheap anything doesn't work.

If EOS mount is multipurpose with no problems. Is anyone here thinking of going this route?
I am thinking, but don't have the courage yet....
Anyone from RED has any comments?

That's a pretty powerful reason to choose the Canon EOS mount

There is no such thing as a Nikon mount that lets you use Canon lenses. The Canon mount is quite a bit larger only allowing a one way adapter.
Canon mounts can use Nikon lenses (with adapter).
Nikon mounts can NOT use Canon lenses.
I would love to be proven wrong but I'm afraid that won't happen.

Gene its the other way. Canon Eos Mount on red allows all the other lenses with adapters. Thus EOs is surely the mount of choice. You are saying the same thing but the other way? don't wish to be wrong your'e not!!
Yes this is what I will probably do get the FD Canon mount for manual since I have an adapter for my nikon lenses and a bunch of great Canon FD primes. and get the Canon EOS when Birger has em running good. for Eos nikon and any other lenses I want to use with adapters. Unfortunately Canon FD cannot adapt to Eos without use of additional glass.
