Should be an interesting Day.

Hello everyone - just a heads up that we are starting our first round of REDucation classes this week - first course are sold out, and we have students from all over the planet making the long journey into LA to spend a week with us at the LA center studios for a fully immersive learning experience about the RED camera and RED post production pathways.

http://www.lacenterstudios.com/index1.html

On Thursday, July 23rd, we open up REDucation to the public for one afternoon and evening:

http://www.reducation.net/community_day.html

http://connect.createasphere.com/event/REDucation

Where there will be many of the companies on the camera side and the post production side that support RED demonstrating and showing off their gear and know-how.

If you have the time on Thurs the 23rd starting at 1pm, I highly recommend you come and visit - and if you are already in the RED world, encourage the Producers, Directors, DPs, Post Production Supervisors, Editors, VFX staff, Production Staff, etc, etc. you work with (or want to work with) to come and spend some time learning and talking to the experts.

We are in the process right now of setting up a panel of DPs that have shot on the RED to engage in a group discussion in the theater during community day - time of that session and those speaking will be posted here as soon as things are finalized (likely in the next day or so)

And we are also planning an evening screening of one of the very first RED ONE shot movies in that same theater on the lot at LA Center Studios - as soon as details are public on that, we will post them here as well.

I look forward to seeing many familiar faces at Community day, and hopefully a bunch of new faces that want to learn more about RED - so get the word out to as many people you know - it promises to be a very interesting and fun day.

Thanks.

+ Ted

Just want to give RED and everyone involved with organizing this a big thumbs up. I think this is a fantastic way to provide training, and the community day seems like it's going to be great as well. I really wish I could make it out for that, but unfortunately I've got a shoot that day.

I will mention the event to everyone I know out there.

Keep up the good work guys!

I know this took a lot of prep to pull off. Perhaps someone could author a thread noting highlights throughout the week? Let's spread the REDucation!

Cheers- #19

Or why not stream it live on an iPhone?

Thanks Steve and Blair (and everyone else reading along).

We are all very excited about the very first REDucation. Another significant step along the way in this RED ride we are all on together. It will be a busy week for all of us in the classes, but we'll try and post some updates and pix on the goings on when we can. Yesterday was the long and involved setup day, and the amount of gear and expertise we have is pretty impressive, I can't wait for the students to see what we have going on. It's going to be like summer camp for RED!

I believe this to be such an important step from RED, and I truly believe that anyone that does not have familiarity with RED, and or wishes to do a project using RED, and or have any scheptical Producer/Director, must at list bring them on for the Community day event after 1:00 pm, I have recommended many to the week long training forwarding info, as I always have so many ask about RED, the process on set and workflow on post, and this will be a tremendous experience for any one attending.

I would not have missed for the world but unfortunately do to my health and economics, I just couldn't attend, but I will definitely try to make a stretch drive form Vegas to attend the Community Day event, and say hi to Ted and every one there, spending time with my fellow REDUSERS is always a great pleasure, the experience is great and always return home with something else in my Bag of tricks, fantastic community, great program and a bright feature ahed, can't wait to see more.

Congrats again Ted and good luck!

I'm really excited about Community Day as well.. its almost another Mini-NAB.. The next step up of what you created with the Vegas REDUSER party Steve.. I cant thank you enough for putting that together so well back in April.

Ted, Jarred:

I'm unsure if I can make the 23rd. On the site it also lists 10/15, 11/12, and 12/7. Are those also "community days"?

Yes, Brandon,

Each of the upcoming REDucation workshops, Oct, Nov, and Dec will have a Community Day between RED Tech and RED Post. Hope you can join us.

Best,

Jeff
